Some Quick Nick stats:

- Ranked 2nd in Grands Prix without a win (167)
- Equal 2nd in most podiums without a win (12)
- Most points without a win (219)
- Has only lead 25 laps (109th overall, 15th without a win)

Will Nick be the best driver to never have won a grand prix?
One of the best either way.

Hopefully he can get one in 2010!

Most sources are reporting that Sauber have signed Pedro De La Rosa, probably with some sponsor backing. Seems like Renault is the only option left for Nick now. I hope he doesn't drop out of F1 without a chance to get a win.

Would be such a sad thing , after being in the run for a Mclaren and Mercedes seat only a month or so ago.

That's what is bugging me. In what world is PDLR a better driver than Nick?
I think PDLR probably has some sponsors behind him and after losing Petronas, Sauber is probably in desperate need of a new sponsor.

Nick Heidfeld finally signs on with Mercedes as a reserve driver. Hopefully he can get back to racing next year, when more teams would sign non pay drivers Very Happy .

Hmm not sure how to take this news.. sad that nick's out of a race drive, but also happy that he's picked up the mercedes gp test role, at least keeps him in a top team, which will hopfully keep him on the radar of teams for a race seat next yr..... maybe a merc dtm drive is on the cards for 2010??

Massa feels Nick deserves a drive on the grid, while Nick admits he lost some drives waiting for a chance at Mclaren or Mercedes.

Massa surprised Heidfeld was overlooked

I mirror Felipe's surprise but what about this:
Vettel is bought to Mercedez, Kimi returns to F1 with Red Bull,
that hires Nick as another driver and we get to see Kimi vs.
Nick round 2!

mrgreen

Well Nick deserves a good seat. But he held out for a seat and he almost got it.......its not exactly his fault the unexpected return of the Schu happened.

Nick is looking for a race seat next season. They say he is eyeing a drive at Renault alongside Kubica. It's probably the best team for him as of now, as all the top teams have secured their drivers for next season.

I hope to see Nick race again next year. He is such an underrated guy and I wish he gets to have his first F1 victory as well when he starts racing again. Very Happy

Yeah it would be great to have Nick back. Renault would be a good team to be back, but i doubt his chances coz Renault are looking for some money and guys like Petrov would bring them some sponsor money whereas Nick can't.
