The Jordan Rally has been a round of the Middle Eastern Rally Championship since the 1980s, but it wasn't until 2008 that it made its debut on the world stage, when Jordan became the first Arab country to host a round of the WRC.
Under the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al Hussein, the chairman of Jordan Motorsport, the inaugural WRC rally was well run, stunning to watch and was hailed a success by teams and drivers. After a year out in 2009 the event returns this year with a few modifications but the same epic character.
This is a rally of extremes. From scorching temperatures - which can top 40 degrees Celsius - to the wild landscape the sandy gravel stages snake through. The headquarters and Service Park are located next to the Dead Sea at the lowest land point on earth, 50km away from the Kingdom’s capital city of Amman.
This year some of the 2008 stages have been modified and others replaced altogether in an effort to introduce more variety to the route, which starts in the forests north of Amman at altitudes of more than 1000 metres, then concentrates in and around the Jordan Valley at around 400 metres below sea level.
!!!
New for 2010
Two events for the price of one. The 2010 Jordan Rally counts as a round of both the FIA Middle Eastern Rally Championship and the World Rally Championship.
A revised itinerary. The timetable of the Jordan Rally follows the Islamic weekend by finishing on a Saturday as opposed to the traditional Sunday.
A ceremonial start at the City of Jerash - one of the largest and best preserved examples of Roman architecture in the world.

Raikkonen tests C4 WRC
News
25th March 2010
By Paul Murphy
Former F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen has got back into a rally car for the first time since crashing out of the Rally Mexico just over two weeks ago.
Raikkonen completed two days of gravel testing in the south of France earlier this week with his Citroen C4 WRC, in preparation for the Jordan Rally from April 1-3. The Finn concentrated on accumulating more mileage in the car – which he has been desperately short of this year – and evaluating set-ups for the forthcoming gravel rallies.
The 30-year-old managed to get in two full days of running and reported no major problems with his back, which had forced him to cancel the pre-Mexico test. The Finn will now be well prepared as he flies out to Jordan this weekend, which he believes will be a positive event for him.
“It’s completely new to me, but it should be a lot of fun,” he said. “Again, we’re facing a different type of gravel so it’s hard to know exactly what to expect, but the team has some information from the past, so that will definitely help. We’re getting there; it’s just a question of time.”
Raikkonen is contesting 12 out of this year’s 13 World Rally Championship rounds in a programme backed by Red Bull.

Re: Round 3: WRC Jordan Rally
Looks like road sweeping is playing apart again
The WRC really should go back to running the leading 15 cars in reverse to cut out the slowing down tactics.
Kimi made a steady start but improved a lot on the second runs.

Re: Round 3: WRC Jordan Rally
It was a very exciting second day of Rally Jordan...
There has been a lot of nice happenings like seeing Sebastien Loeb again leading as well as the great ride of Kimi through Jordan desert...he took his car home, what was very important and I hoping, that he will manage the same tmr...go Kimi!
It's a pity, that Mikka Hirvonen got problems, but that's the sport..
Citröen is leading, they seem to have a good package this weekend...
The Citröen Junior Team do a better performance than many of the "young teams" in F1...
Here are the overall standings after the 2nd day of Rally Jordan:
Big guest at Rally Jordan: FIA president and Kimi's former team boss Jean Todt....

Re: Round 3: WRC Jordan Rally
Sebastien Loeb wins the Jordan Rally!
Citroen C4 WRC driver Sebastien Loeb sealed victory on the Jordan Rally today, round three of the 2010 World Rally Championship, to extend his lead in the FIA Drivers' standings.
Today's win was the 56th at World Championship level for Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena.
Loeb, the defending and six-times World Champion maintained his healthy overnight lead throughout Saturday's eight stages to finish 35.8sec ahead of Ford driver Jari-Matti Latvala who claimed second in a Ford Focus RS WRC.
Citroen privateer Petter Solberg finished third, 1min 11sec behind Loeb in another Citroen C4 WRC.
Congrats to the guys on the podium!!!
Kimi finished at 8th position after a stunning performance on three days, so he earned his first 4 points in WRC...congrats Kimi and Kaj! You are a great team!

Here are the overall standings after SS21:

Yeah, I read that too...it was reported by MTV3, right?
(The second driver was Carlos Reutemann, Zonk!)
Here is a short translation:

(The second driver was Carlos Reutemann, Zonk!)
Here is a short translation:
RÄIKKÖNEN MADE FINNISH MOSTORSPORT HISTORY!
Kimi Räikkönen wrote his name in the historybooks after his 8th position in Jordan Rally.
On saturday Räikkönen became the first Finnish racer who has scored championship-points in both WRC and F1.
The value of his performance is highlighted by the fact that no other foreign racer has been able to achieve the same except Carlos Reutemann from Argentina in the beginning of the 80's.
