The Music Thread
I don't think there's any thread on music here yet, about which I'm surprised. Let's talk about our favourite music and musical instruments we like/play. Or anything about music!
I like all types of music. I like pop, rock, jazz, classical, instrumental.... all kinds of music if they sound good to me!
I listen to classical guitar quite a lot these days. The one I recommend is this one:

Barrios' music is melodically beautiful. I'd call him Chopin of guitar. We mainly associate Spanish composers when we talk about classical guitar, but if you are not so much into classical guitar, I think Barrios will convert you into a guitar lover.
BTW, I like electric guitar, too. I used to like this guy:

My favourite rock guitarist, Yngwie Malmsteen. Sounds very different from classical guitar in that it is very loud and sharp. As I'm getting older, I don't listen to those loud stuff as much, but I still like to hear them. The technical display of these rock guitarists are just amazing. Paul Gilbert and Tony McAlpine are others that I recommend.

Re: The Music Thread
Michael Jackson led me to like pop music. I liked his Thriller album so much and since then, I became a pop-music fan.
I like the 80s stuff. Too mellow, maybe, but I grew up with 80s music so that sounds good to my ear.
Some of the stuff I used to listen to a lot:
Michael Jackson
Duran Duran
Foreigner
Madonna
A-ha
Wham! and George Michael
Lionel Richie
Chicago
Peter Cetera
Boston
Whitney Houston
Cutting Crew
Heart
Bryan Adams
Richard Marx
Europe
Bon Jovi
Starship
Whitesnake
Pet Shop Boys
U2
Bruce Hornsby and the Range
Wang Chung
Survivor
The Jets
Debbie Gibson
Tiffany
Fleetwood Mac
Huey Lewis and the News
Genesis
Phil Collins
Bangles
Def Leppard
Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine
The Cars
Dire Straits
Cindy Lauper
Eric Carmen
Stevie Wonder
Air Supply
Crowded House
Olivia Newton-John
John Farnam
Kylie Minogue
Belinda Carlisle
Pretty much an 08s collection I guess!
I also like Beatles, ELO, Carpenters, Elvis, Sinatra, Elton John, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, Eagles, Scorpions, Don Mclean, Jim Croce, Eric Clapton.... the list goes on.
I got hooked by electric guitar pieces when I was in highschool and Yngwie Malmsteen was the one who's responsible. Then, I got to like Gary Moore, Paul Gilbert(Racer-X and Mr.Big) and Tony MacAlpine. Other technical guitarists like Impeliteri, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, Vinnie Moore, Michael Angelo, etc. all have awesome technique. I play classical guitar, but sometimes I try their stuff, although I'm not that good.
