I gave up playing those, not that I got bored.. but simply because I couldnt play it.. Smile

Only recently found that Robyn has some pretty funky tracks, particularly "Fembot" and "None of Dem".

Also love music from the following (some are already disbanded, gone)
- Queen
- Michael Jackson
- Eminem
- Guns 'N Roses
- Aerosmith
- Def Leppard
- Starship
- Era
- Christina Aguilera
- Mozart
- Chopin
- music from the "Baroque" era

Chinese / Cantonese:
- Beyond
- Jackie Cheung
- A-Mei
- Leslie Cheung
- Sam Hui
- Hacken Lee

Not to mention a TON of "one hit wonders......"

I love Def Leppard's album 'Hysteria'. It has so many nice tracks. Women, Love Bites, Rocket, Animal, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Hysteria, Armageddon It, etc.... One of the best rock album of all time, I guess.

Michael Jackson used to be my favourite singer when I was young. His album 'Thriller' got me into popular music. My favourite song for more than a year was Billie Jean back then. Laughing

I like Starship as well. We Built This City is such a nice song. Sara and Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now are my other favourites of their songs.

Did Lou Reed send Susan Boyle to take a walk on the wild side by not given her permission to sing Perfect Day?

OMG. Susan Boyle got well known in Canada too? Surprised
Does every song got a copyright? even in a singing talent who is
demonstrating the song?
I did not know that, so they need to ask for permission,
maybe pay for it a heaps until singing it on media.

Re: The Music Thread

Post by PURIST on Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:00 am

I'll introduce some of the best Australian love songs that are not known that well in other parts of the world. The first song is "Please Don't Ask Me" by John Fanham.

John Farnham is a big name in Australian music. Famous American singer Richard Marx used to be a huge admirer of his, often saying, "John Farnham is my aim" in interviews. He has a natural type, good quality voice which is also powerful. This song is a bit old, but it is a good song. Here's another one of his called "Burn For You".

Another song I'd like to present is "You Were There" by Southern Sons.

I've heard they are right wing supporters, which tend to be racist and nationalist, but I'm not so sure. Nevertheless, they are good musician and produced some nice songs. This song was used in Sydney Dance Company's performance "Beauty and the Beast".
