Le Mans 24 Hours

Post by midgrid on Sat May 01, 2010 9:18 pm

So, I'm going to the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time this year and am pretty excited about it! Very Happy

Is anyone else going? Who will win: Audi or Peugeot? Will the petrol cars cause any upsets? etc.

I expect Peugeot will win again, just as long as it's not #2 I don't mind mrgreen The Audi #7 should keep the Pugs honest.

I'm looking forward to seeing whether any of the Mansells have what it takes. The old man is getting on and neither son has exactly set the world alight in motorsport.

Have fun.

Not looking good for Audi with the top 4 in first practice all Peugeots and the fastest Audi driver, McNish, 3.9 seconds off the lead Pug. Shocked

The Pugs are still 4 seconds ahead of the Audis and have lots in hand, if required. They were driving one purple sector per lap and then a different sector next time round.

Audi only hope is lots of rain in the race or Peugeot DNFs. Two of the 908s stopped on track this evening, so there is a slim chance.

Audi have got within 2.5 seconds of pole but the Pugs had much more if needed as was shown in the last 20 minutes.

Race started... 24 hours to go. The Audi seems fast in the warm up this morning, but I expect Peugeot to win again.

Big attack from McNish in the first laps as if it was a GP race Shocked

Laughing Laughing

Medics wasted valuable time looking for Mansell's moustache, failing to realise he didn't bring it with him.

McNish's car has lost several laps as Mr Le Mans tangled with a BMW Sad

Ant's car is still leading.

So when one is at the track how does one follow a 24 hour race? And how comfortable are you?

The #1 Pug loses 4 laps to a "starter motor" issue Question

That leaves the all French Pug with a 2+ minute lead over the "non factory" 908.

2 down, 2 more Pugs to go mrgreen

By radio and big screen information at Le Mans. At the Silverstone 24 hour it's just radio and I generally head to the car for a couple of hours kip during the early hours.
