Are they really Challengers or are they just painted that way?

Yeah, they are still tube framed race cars with nothing in common with the real cars except the way they paint the body to look like one. They just look better than the family sedan versions in Sprint Cup.

FYI, the Grand Am Sports Car Series over here does race modified production versions of these cars.
