Sort of describes much of the game.

I saw my friend playing New Vegas the other day.

It looked so similar that I could tell him exactly what to do. Pipboy, HUD, weapons, RadBees etc.

Its just like your character has moved somewhere else in the apocalyptic USA.

The game feels very different though. Probably more entertaining, closer to the roots of the original, etc.

And more bugs.

Don't entirely agree with that. What I loved about Fallout 3 was the atmosphere: the desolate landscape, the ruined city, the destroyed buildings. NV still has that but in diluted form. Discovering new locations in 3 was half the fun but I didn't get that with NV. Possibly because so many locations are now too familiar to me: all the underground passages are identical to all the ones in 3 and so on. And Vegas itself was a bit of a boring location. The only bit I thought was great fun was the cannibalism thing in one of the casinos.

One thing is for sure: when Fallout 4 appears, it needs a new engine. Not just because of the bugs but because it's all getting a bit samey now.

In other news, I hear a new STALKER is in development. Hopefully that too will get a new engine. It's probably the most atmospheric game I have ever played and huge too. If you haven't played it, get a discount bin copy. It's the only game I ever played in which I actually felt quite unnerved in some locations and literally jumped at times.

Shadow of Chernobyl is the best. Call of Pripyat is smaller, with improved graphics. Looks impressive in DX 11. Still good. Clear Sky is the most bugged game I ever played although it's completely stable now it's had it's millionth patch. It's good but there's less opportunity to roam around.
