lol sorry. The Prime Minister was on tv this morning saying that the quake will cost 10% of GDP, making it possibly the most expensive natural disaster any developed country has faced (in relation to how much money
they have)

There was an Earthquake of magnitude 6.8 in the North East of India. So far 40 people have been confirmed dead. The rescue is being hampered due to heavy rains and landslides. The road to the hill state of Sikkim has been cut off due to the Earthquake and landslides. The army is working to restore the land connectivity.

Not good.

Is that a highly populated area?

Yeah, you can't find a place that is not highly populated in India. Sikkim is a big tourist destination. Darjeeling and Gangtok are 2 of the premier hill stations in India. Darjeeling has no electricity now and they are working to restore it. But it has been raining very heavily and this is hampering operations.

Been reading about the quake in Turkey. Around 400 people have been confirmed dead and the count could increase further Sad . Hope the count doesn't increase much further.

Let's hope for the best. I wish all those who are missing will return unharmed.

I hope NZ sends heaps of help (after so many workers were sent to Christchurch). Earthquakes suck, because unlike many kinds of natural disasters, they hit completely out of the blue. What an unimaginable shock.

Well I'm not there, but a 5.8 or 6.0 only ten kilometers deep is significant.

Some people only just got services online from the first quake!

Lateral ground movement of one G is not good!!!
