Post by sonny on Tue 14 Sep 2010, 17:33

British company Working Title will be releasing a documentary in theaters about the life of Ayrton Senna.
It seems its going to be really exciting based on the trailer. I got the japanese version only:

Looks amazing, can´t wait to see it. Keep us posted on when it´s coming out. How lucky were some of us to start watching F1 in that golden era? For me it happened with F1 and basketball (the Michael Jordan years. Today I hardly watch anymore). That´s why it´s more difficult to be satisfied with today´s F1 I guess. Would love to see all those races again...

Had seen it before - Seeing Hamilton lit up and excited driving Senna's car is amazing. Lucky man he is ....

Thanks JPS4ever. Brings back fond memories. I still think G.Villeneuve and M.Schumacher as my favorites…but take nothing away from Senna. I think it would be cool if Top Gear did a competition with today’s drivers in Sennas McLaren MP4/4….just to see who gets the best time…..

Amazing how Senna drives that McLaren past the limit all the time, with the car moving even on the straights. Those guys were brave, driving those turbos with 1500 hp and little aero grip with almost no head protection...it´s as if they were on carts, covered only by a little bit of fiberglass...And Senna, what a racer. I can only imagine what he would have said to someone asking him to move over...

From the trailer... this is very much what I remember.

The energy of the man and the undefinable aura that he created via his deep, near religious, intensity and dedication to the craft of driving.

The early years, Toleman and Lotus are very rarely covered in depth, especially his uncanny similarity in very neat driving style to Jim Clark, in those early years when the 'big' power engines were not yet available to him.

If they portray Senna as a saint, then sure its a re-write. But i dont believe thats the focus of the documentary. And when it comes to his talent as a driver, theres no need to re-write history, reality was already pretty awesome. mrgreen

Maybe not now, maybe after it is released on DVD.
Maybe you can TRACK it later in the year, you know, Senna was as fast as a TORRENT.. Suspect

A long time ago we spoke about Senna. Here in Forum's.
He was a son of a rich plantation owner.
He had uncomfortable childhood from his fathers hard upbringing.
His father pushed him to the limit's.
(Correct me If my info of him is inaccurate).

Senna was very good driver,
he was very ruthless too, those days (30years ago) race Marshals were very lenient, if they even had any then?
Ayrton Senna was an excellent driver, but very dangerous.
He would even squeeze him trough a cap, size of eye of a needle.
Others were very terrified of his ruthless driving, not respecting anyone else in a track. I used to Boo him then.
I remember it so well.

I hope at Senna movie will be honest portray of him,
and his driving career.
Hope at it shows, at how not to drive carelessly & not taking too many risk's.
Just hoping at movie will show in depth at racing is not for everyone.

Young kid's coming from Cinemas, and being instant F1 drivers with their
high powered, modified cars.
I dare not to take my car out in those first few movie week's. Neutral

Anyway I cant wait to see the movie myself. Very Happy

Senna was a driver who took everything to the limit in an era where reaching and surpassing the limit was frightening. He also competed head to head and many times beat not only the best drivers of that time but what many consider to be some of the best ever. Just for that he deserves respect. In terms of driving talent only a few can be compared to him...Fangio, Prost, Clark come to mind... Add to that his almost philosophical approach to race car driving and the way he died and you have the stuff legends are made of...

No disrespect to you folks or Senna...but I'm getting a little tired of hearing how Senna drove on the limit....like c'mon...I'm sure all the drivers did...its not like everyone else had their feet on the dash board smoken a cigar..Senna had great cars which matched his talent...especially those McLaren/Honda days.
