Steam cleaning?

Do you think steam cleaning could help save our environment?
Steam cleaning?
I was kind of thinking about the steam cleaning technology. Let me go into details with that. Wastewater has been a major problem during the Industrialization of many countries. Why? It's basically because, every plant or manufacturer that operates uses water to cool their systems or mainly in their processing and clean up. I remember watching the movie Erin Brokovich played by Julia Roberts where she earned money when she proved that the plant near her neighborhood had been dumping waste that does not meet protocol set by the government. Usually BOD and/or COD analysis should meet the maximum number set by the government. It is basically an analysis made by a Pollution Control Officer and his group to see how polluted the water they are going to release to the water system and what treatment could be used to lower the concentration of pollutants.
In grade school, water cycle has always been taught to every student. How the water evaporates and condenses and goes back into our water system. Basically, it affects us and the food we it. Now, why relate it to steam cleaning? Steam cleaning seems to be using minimal amount of water minus the use of soap. Soap as you may know generally know binds with the metal on hard water and develops a white precipitate called "scum." This is the white residue you see on your cars after washing it with soap. Not good.
Soap adds pollution and thus affects our water system. It might demand Oxygen to be degraded so it competes with the fishes' demand for oxygen. So I think, this steam cleaning idea is a blast.
I mean, most of us might not even consider using it but, hey why not if we're able, right? Considering the global warming nowadays. Time to think of the next generation... Mobile detailing services in your area might have this service already.

Re: Steam cleaning?
Hi vincentboyle.
Where you come from, like country would be enough.
What's wrong with the soap?
My grandma used to make her own, by natural resources.
Soap is made of animal fat, then it been added with scent's, perfume,
coloring additives. Boiled and added some stuff what I forgot the name of,
to bind it to make dry soap cakes.
Soap is totally innocent element here.
Are you saying at we should stop washing our self's just because of soap,
is polluting our water systems?
Why not to go to big companies like "Erin Brocovich" was doing,
they pollute much more than just an innocent alkaline bar of soap.
Anyway, I would never wash my car with a bar of soap,
I use dish washing liquid, wonder at how dangerous that would be to environment?
I dont even know at what they have in it?
Just sud's & my car look's sparkling clean after that.

Missfinn,
Sure. I'm in the Philippines now. Will be back to Singapore soon...
What's wrong with soap? Nothing really. I'm just stating how it reacts with hard water and forms "scum." Well, sodium hydroxide pellets are used to make soaps. I think that's sodium stearate. The process you have is right. I guess, what I was saying is that, hard water --or that's water from deep wells, untreated, with Ca ions and Mg ions in them; usually, when you boil water, you remove it's "hardness" and sometimes you'll find the bottom of your kettle having that white/brown precipitate. When you wash clothes with hard water, it typically causes your white shirts turn brown. Soap (sometimes sodium stearate) reacts with those ions that make the water hard and form that precipitate called "scum." You don't want that on your car. Being a chemical engineer, wastewater pollution, most of it comes from industries and municipal waste. Well, soaps are good cleansing agents. I'm not saying that you don't use soap, whoever thought of not using it when taking a bath, right? I am merely stating a fact that it, causes pollution to the waterways, demanding oxygen for it to be degraded. Thereby competing with the living organisms in the waters. Check out the laws in your area, I'm sure there's one. http://www.wepa-db.net/policies/law/japan/wpc9.htm. So given the chance, if you can do preventive measures, why not, right? If there's a way to use steaming instead of using soap, why not? maybe someone could develop a technology of some sort.
But again, I'm using soap when bathing. No law says we can't. Again, I'm merely stating a fact... So feel free to use soap in your car. No problem at all.

Nothing beats a good Finnish Sauna.
With hard beating massage with Silver Birch branches.
