Just remembered: Montoya was fed up with F1 claiming winning is only possible with 1 or 2 cars every year, and how nice NASCAR is because all cars are equal...

Than why on Earth are you in the midfield, JPM?!

C'mon Guesswho, JPM actually got into the Chase, and is currently 6th in the standings mrgreen
With a bit less bad luck, he could've get the Cup by the end of the Chase.

I believe he is a great driver Very Happy

For those that are interested, here is a wrap up of JPM's 2009 season. The stats are very different to F1 as there are 43 cars participating in every event. It was a great year and the team grew a lot. In contrast to F1 his team is like Williams with some legacy and history but not a lot of budget. 2010 might be even better. Who knows. All I know is that Juancho is having a blast and is happy with his family life racing in the US.

2009 Year-End Highlights
Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team

The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup: Juan Pablo Montoya and the Target team finished out the 2009 season in eighth place in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship. This marks the first time Montoya and the Target team have made a trip to the year-end awards ceremony in Las Vegas. An on-track collision with Tony Stewart resulted in a 38th-place finish at the season finale in Homestead. The finish bumped Montoya down two positions from sixth.

The Chase Stats: After 10 races in the Chase, Montoya posted some impressive statistics. In his first year in the Chase, Montoya had five top-five finishes, six top-10 finishes, an average start of 12.5 and an average finish of 15.4 with one pole at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He ran the second highest percentage of the fastest laps at 8.4% and spent 78.6% of his time within the top 15.

2009 In Numbers: Montoya and the Target team accumulated two pole awards, seven top fives, 18 top-10 (50%) and 22 top-15 finishes this season. In the 36 Cup races run this season Montoya earned 27 top-20 finishes, led 388 laps and averaged a starting position of 12.8 and a finishing position of 14.2 for the season. He led all active drivers in the number of quality passes this season with 1,966. 10,336 of out 10,492 possible laps (98.5%) were completed this season which ranks sixth for active drivers and had no DNF’s (did not finish). Montoya’s best finish of the season came at the second Pocono race where he finished second.

The Overall Picture: In his third full season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, Montoya has tallied 109 career starts, one win, two poles, 12 top five and 27 top-10 finishes. At least half of these were garnered this season alone. He has an average starting position of 19.3 and an average finishing position of 20.4 with 41,466 miles logged around the race tracks.

And the Award Goes to …. Both Montoya and his pit crew will be honored next week at the NASCAR Championship banquet. Montoya has been awarded the Mobile 1 Command Performance Award. It is awarded to the winner of each race or the next highest finishing eligible competitor. Montoya will receive the award in Las Vegas and be presented with a check for $100,000. The No. 42 Target pit crew has been awarded the Mechanix Wear Most Valuable Pit Crew Award. The season was split into four quarters and the winner was determined by a vote from each team’s crew chief. The Target crew was elected for the award in the third and fourth quarter and will be presented a check for $100,000 in Las Vegas.

affraid

this was his third season? and one win overall... I remember when he won, it was on a proper racetrack, not an oval.

If he's feeling OK, he can perform quite well, so all good!

PS.: thanks for the stats Sail.
Rus - uhhm... NO?

EDIT: I just remembered, the season finale in Homstead was sometime not long ago... probably last weekend? I remember while driving down south going through Homstead it was advertised all over the place. Or am I wrong?

If you like JPM, follow him on Twitter.....or if you have not used twitter, all you do is have to click on this link and you can read what he is tweeting.

Freaking hilarious at times and raw Juancho at others!

On Autosprint this week, an answer from Montoya:

Q: "And about all the changes in F1 this year, what do you think?"
A: "The most interesting for me is seeing what Kimi will be able to do in rally races!"
