F1 2010 LAP TIMES & SETUPS

Post by aussieracer on Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:07 am

I thought we should have a thread dedicated to lap times and favourite setups for each track. That way it's easier to find how we are doing compared to each other and share some ideas on how to catch up. Nothing particularly worth sharing right now Razz but I will once I get a few good sessions in.

I'm sure Monstar has found some nice setups by now he'd like to share with us mrgreen

I haven't really been doing custom setups, I just take the preset farthest to the right for every race, except perhaps Monaco. I even use that setup in wet weather, it works well.

It's probably average but my best was a 1:13.309 at Montreal.
Rear wing 1, front wing 4.

Damn, I can only do a 1:08.104 without aids around Brazil. What setup are you using there?

1:07.635 now. Giving up for the night Razz Not bad considering this is the first real attempt at this track. But your 1.06 must have been F'ing magnificant unless I just really really suck Laughing

Are you guys for real? I am at least 5 seconds on average slower than those times and yet I am consistently on pole using the professional difficulty

Are you sure? At brazil? That's crazy. I haven't done a GP there yet, just time trial. I bet it's because in GP the track is very slippery from the first session and gradually gets grippier up until the race. In time trial the track is always at its optimum.

I've done my first season so far up to Spa, in a Lotus, on Legend difficulty, doing 100% race distance. I won my first race the other day, at Spa.

I know the game is broken in terms of AI, because I've qualified on Pole 4 times and each time the AI races faster in the race with full tanks of fuel than it could manage in qualifying, leaving me to finish 4th at best. Luckily Spa was a wet race and I genuinely had good pace relative to the AI.

You just have to race harder Razz The support categories must be making the track grippier between quali and the race Laughing

Trust me it's stupid. Every single lap by Jarno in the race is faster than his low fuel quali times, and he only gets quicker and quicker. What a crock. Laughing

I'm actually not liking that setup so far. Each to their own driving style I suppose. I just keep hitting low 1:08s and high 1.07s lap after lap.

So far, my best Interlagos is only a 1:11.xxx.... long ways to go.

But what I always do for setup is to change the gear ratio to suit the "top speed" stated in the track info, with 6th gear touching the top-speed, and 7th gear just above, then scaling 1st to 5th. During FP, looking at which 1st to 5th gear needs to tweak based on some of the corners.

Then it's the front/back wings depending on whether I want cornering speed or top-speed or both.

Lastly, it's camber/toe.

I hardly touch the rest... best race has been Abu Dhabi where I was miles ahead of everyone else, with the bottom feeders about 2 laps down.
