What platform are you getting F1 2010 for?
Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
Well, if you're in Singapore, I know a place selling the G25 for S$399 (US$295@1.35). I bought the G27 for S$459 (US$340@1.35).

Where can you buy a G27? I'd rather get it at a store than online.

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
I found a place online for $325 But i think the deal is off. Just waiting for them to get back to me. If they still have it for that, ill buy 1. You wont find any for less than $400 i think, unless you do some major shopping around. Im thinking of going into EB games and trying to get a good deal on F12010+GT5SIG+ G27. See what happens.
DSE is expensive but ive read someone got 1 for $365 which is good. Ill try kmart, target, bigw, anywhere i can to get the lowest price.
Looking back now i should of got the G25 for $225

I got my G25 last year brand new for $270. Just checked the place I bought it from and they don't sell it anymore, but they have G27 and it's $395!
And to think I felt at the time G25 was steep! Thank-god I bought it back then!

Lately I've been trying to figure how to get my hands on a 3D TV. No luck so far... not even close.

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
I don't really care about the price to be honest. I'm sold on the G27 even if it's $200 more, simply because it has helical gears for quiet and smoother operation. The pedals are also adjustable so you can spread them out. I've always been frustrated with the crampness of other pedals. I'm not really that confident with buying online. Probably because of bad experiences with Dell.
If I can't find it in any shops I'm thinking of getting it here:

I saw a demonstration of one and wasn't impressed enough to care. I used to think it would be cool to upgrade to one, but after seeing a demo I didn't think it added anything to the experience. Admittedly it was just Rugby in 3D. Maybe if it was a bigger screen and onboard an F1 car it would have been more immersive.

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
It's a point of difference among those who've seen it in action, but I've heard enough positive things that it will be worth while. I'm praying that they begin releasing PC monitors that comply with the 3D HDMI 1.4 standard, then I'll be able to hook the PS3 up to the 3D monitor, and presumably the entry point for a 24Inch monitor will be much much lower than the TVs on sale at the moment.

For the PS3 users. what controls do you use?
for me..its
X - Accelerator
Square - Brake
then R2 and L2 for upshift and downshift as its way easier. All other driving games its R2 and L2 for the brake and accelerator.
The main problem with this set up for F1 is the lack of TC..its very hard to gently apply the power.

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
I don't know if it is an option, but I have a PS3-style controller for PC, and when I played racing games on that, I mapped the throttle and brake to the right analog stick. You can't brake and accelerate at the same time, but you have full throttle/brake control. You can play games on the hardest difficulty without any aids, it's a decent substitute if you can't afford a wheel.

The only problem I've had with that setup is that my right thumb would be extremely sore and cramped after a 2-3 hours session...

Whats the deal with the clutch? do you have to use it or can you just change through the gears without it?

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
Well that depends on the game.
Most racing games don't support the full H-Pattern gearbox anyway, like many of the arcade racers. So you usually can't use it anyway. Games that do support it will usually have clutch support, but it is often implemented in different ways. Clutch always adds something to the game. Test Drive is a lot more entertaining with the clutch and gearbox.
In Gran Turismo 5 if you botch the clutch gear change it simply doesn't go into gear and you get a neutral. It's really irritating but I guess it punishes you appropriately. You can switch it off and race sequential gears if you prefer. I've played other games where bad clutch work doesn't affect things too much.
For F1 you'd switch to use the paddles and the clutch will not be used.

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
yup, as Webhead said. In F1:CE and F1 2010, you use the paddles and the clutch auto engages for each gear change, just like the real cars.
The clutch pedal for the G25/27 would come in handy for Gran Turismo 5 or other racing games though

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
I just went to Harvey Norman and ask for a price on the G27 and they said $599
I said whats the best you can do for cashola. He said $520
Told him he was dreaming, Didnt like that.
Then i said i seen them online for under $400 ( but didnt say i seen them for $325)and he said no chance the G27 would be selling for under $400.
Then he started to talk some crap so i just walked off on him.

Re: F1 2010 - GET IT NOW OR ELSE!!!
You should definitely get the $325 if that's actually real. The best I've seen is $399, and that's from a very reliable authentic online/pickup retailer here in Brisbane.
Forget Harvey Norman, and JB Hifi for that matter. They were both selling G25 a year ago at a similar price point.
I use a little table, but I wonder if there is anywhere to buy the racing seat and stand at an affordable price.
