Great, it really shows promise!

But, is it me or that EGO engine makes everything look as if a meteorite rain had recently fallen to Earth?

Laughing It has a post-nuclear war look to the atmosphere. I think these are 'artistic' impression shots, the real game is probably a lot more dull.

Good review of the game on the F1fanatic site. There are also a couple of videos too :
F1 2010 first play

The game looks really great. Too bad it won't run too well on my PC and I'm not a regular gamer, so a console is out of the question Laughing .

My PS3 is hungry for this hahahaha.

We've been very critical of Codemasters getting the licence and deciding to make it a multi-console development.

I'm not sure if the XBox360 wheel is the best choice to showcase this game - I'd think a G25 or G27 would be better, IMO.

As for the game itself, well... negatives would be:
- no safety car
- no warmup lap
- no photo screenshot
- no full-grid multiplayer (max 13 or 14 atm)
- no knee-action to activate a McLaren snorkel

Other than that, I'm looking forward to it. Now I'll just content myself with my FF13 and GOW3 Smile

I wonder why safety car has never been done before? Warmup lap I will miss a little bit, but it's not a deal breaker. As long as the cars handle OK, I will be happy.

Yup, they decided to implement digiflags. So no marshalls waving flags.

Also no LG official timing, the game will feature inhouse timings.

Screen blur at high speeds could make marshalls hard to see maybe?

I just found out this:

"Sadly, we have something to add to the list of non-existant features as mechanical failure won’t be present in the game, you won’t be suffering the same fate as Sebastian Vettel at Bahrain last weekend."

SCORE! What a joke...

This is on top of the two reasons that, alone, made me decide that I am NOT going to buy the game: no safety car conditions, and no formation lap.

You can forget my money Codemasters! If you wanna make games for kids and people who don't wanna feel like their driving an F1 car, then, by all means, go ahead. Just don't say it's realistic and whatnot, like you've been doing.

There is no such things as a realistic F1 game....there is no way one can control an F1 car with a PS3 controller or even a game wheel. So there are always compromises. Always.

So no safety car is a compromise because your 3000 € machine can't generate G forces higher than 1?

Yes, rFactor can be played in one of those machines.

I know a guy who has one of those, though he plays Richard Burns Rally on it. Well, he does, I just crash Razz Rally is definitely not for me.

In any case...

The reason they have not included a SC or Formation lap..is because they decided it added little to the game...and you have to admit..it would be boring going around for 5 laps doing nothing.

They would need to make safety optional, and I think it would add tonnes personally. I'd have it switched on. Talk about emersion in the game. Having said that, it's absence isn't a deal breaker.

No formation lap is a slight disappointment though, somehow the starts seems more important when you've invested so much time into it...

Lewis drove is Mclaren with a blackberry once. i dont see how someone couldn't put a blue tooth device in a PS3 controller and drive an F1 car. How cool would that be. You sit in the car and Lewis drives you around Spa!! Laughing I reckon you;d shit yourself Laughing Laughing

Dude, if you don't like it, you turn it off. That's how it works in modern gaming, ever since 1982.

It would be boring, but it would be mighty cool to gamble on SC conditions on tire strategy and whatnot. I personally won't be buying the game because of this. Because, to be honest, that's the only thing I really want from an F1 game: to completely simulate a grand prix weekend. I don't really care about marbles and graining, because I don't have a simulator machine, so I play on a simple wheel and pedals, so simple grip loss outside the racing line and tire temperature is fine. And since F1 2010 won't offer anything new in comparison to other simulators, I won't buy it. If it had safety cars, then ok, that'd be a no brainer. This way I will keep playing rFactor, Race Pro and when it comes out rFactor 2. I won't be wasting time in subpar racing games.

I don't.

Think I'm unique, that is.

There are plenty of players that will prefer rFactor and the like, and that will see F1 2010 just like another mass market arcade like codemasters is used to do. And, believe me, it won't be just because of the no security car thing. It's a deal breaker for me because, besides the security car and the all fidelity thing, there is nothing that F1 2010 can offer that I don't already have somewhere else. Others probably won't like other aspects, I don't know.

I'll be getting the game since I haven't gotten an F1 game since 2006 Championship Edition... but I agree that they should at least make safety car conditions, etc. an on/off option for those who do want the extra realism in there... just like they make brake-assist, etc. an on/off option for those who want it to be LESS realistic. Doesn't break the deal for me though.

I understand that it is a difficult feature to implement, I just wish these developers were honest.

"At this stage we can't think of a great way to implement that feature, we'll do it one day when we think we can do it right."

would have been a far better answer than

"we don't think it would add any substance to the game"

as if the fans don't know if it would add any value. Laughing
