World Rally Championship (WRC) Show...
www.wrc.com - WRC Show expand coverage on YouTube.
It would be wonderful if there is live streaming too as we don't have coverage on TV unlike F1.

Raikkonen close to signing a Citroen deal to race 13 rounds of WRC in 2010 funded by Red Bull.

The 'funded by Red Bull' is interesting for his chances of returning to F1 in 2011.

Due to the distances and remote countryside there are few cameras on each stage and therefore not enough footage to do live coverage.
Even with on-board footage the TV coverage is only 30 minutes per days rallying.
The WRC live radio is basically only someone watching the live split times and another interviewing drivers at the stage end control.
Kimi might attract better coverage but it can never be anything like the quantity of F1.

I went to Rally Australia this year. It was a lot of fun at the super special stage. Maybe next time I'll visit the service park as well.

Solberg: Raikkonen has top five potential
I really thought Kimi would stay in F1, if he does go rallying, then this is promising news.
Petter Solberg believes that should Kimi Raikkonen commit to a full WRC season in 2010 he would adapt quickly to the sport and could challenge for top five finishes before the end of the year.
Solberg, who won the World Rally Championship in 2003, has a unique perspective on the Finn’s potential, having this year driven both a Ferrari F1 car at the Fiorano test track in Italy and a C4 World Rally Car – the car Raikkonen is expected to drive – on two rounds of the WRC.
Talking exclusively to wrc.com, Solberg ruled out a WRC victory for Raikkonen next year but felt his F1 championship winning background would stand him in good stead.
“With the proper practise planning and testing I think he will adapt quickly,” said Solberg.
“He’s a very, very good driver, and once he’s learned the basics, like how to work with pace notes, I think he will surprise many people. We’ve already seen how quick he was in Finland in a Super 2000 car, and if he’s in a decent World Rally Car next season I think he could finish between third and fifth on some rallies. The fact is, if you can drive, you can drive.”
Solberg is confident Raikkonen would cope well with the transition from his 2009 season Ferrari F60 car to a four-wheel drive World Rally Car. “This year I’ve driven a Formula 1 car and a Le Mans car and it’s the same as rallying; you have to attack and push,” explained Solberg.
“You have to be on the case and you need some balls. I think it’s all about understanding how to push and Kimi has proved he can do that.”
Raikkonen is widely expected to drive a Citroen C4 WRC in 2010, a car which – along with the Ford Focus RS WRC – Solberg rates highly. “Both the C4 and the Ford work very well are quite easy to drive,” he said.
“They are both consistent, predictable handling cars that do the correct thing – just in slightly different ways. I think he could adapt very quickly to either of them.”
Asked what advice he would offer Raikkonen before his first stage, Solberg said: “Just nail it.”

Yes, I remember you mentioned it in the old forum.
Was it held in Queensland?

Yeah, I really wanted to see him stay.
I think WRC used to be on the old Speedvision, but I haven't seen any coverage for about 5 years now. Maybe some satellite companies might have it, but not me.

Ah, I found on a search that they are having coverage on Discovery HD. But, alas, I don't get that channel either. Maybe I can find out if I can get it before next season starts.

I would always just download them before HD Theater started showing them again... and who knows how much of a delay there will be before HD Theater actually shows each rally, the US always seems to have issues in that regard.

The Service Park was really good fun.
Some of the mechanics were very chatty and would answer technical questions and talk about how they worked as a team.
There were clocks everywhere counting down times to the service window, once the car was "in service" there were countdown clocks showing how long a time they had left to work on it.
As service "in time" approached you could feel the tension rising especially where the team knew they had damage to repair.
When the car came in it then resembled a F1 pit stop. No matter how much work needed doing there was a calm and precise atmosphere where everyone knew their job.
I was watching Toshi Arai's crew bleeding the brakes, refitting the wheels and lowering the car off the jacks with less than a minute to go and you would never have believed that they didn't have all day left to do it.
The big screen TV's were full of action from past stages and as someone pointed out, live coverage is limited but I was amazed how "hypnotised" I became by the timing clocks and whether Seb Lowe could keep that one second lead!
