Wishing RK a quick recovery so that he can come back to F1 as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Renault should seriously start looking for a driver that can carry the team, especially if they expected big things from this year's car. Heidfeld and Hulkenberg come to mind from the top of my head, and that guy that was testing for Red Bull?

Renault have said that they are looking at Senna, Luizzi or Heidfeld as replacement for Kubica. Meanwhile, someone has made a simulation of the accident on youtube. Just shows how lucky he was to survive the accident :

Senna and Luizzi are at Petrov´s level at best. They need someone at least closer to Kubica´s level...

someone should go ahead and scare the s**t out of Kimi. "look Kimi, this could've been you! rallying is dangerous my friend... here, look, some money!" Razz

but seriously, Kimi would be an excellent choice if he weren't so hooked up on rallying.

(i hope saying the above doesn't make me look inconsiderate about Robert's condition. i seriously am shocked and very sad about what's going on. )

Ok, maybe not at Kubica´s level but closer. I reckon Heidfeld and Hulk are better than Senna and Luizzi? Any one of them could probably be bought out of their tester contracts.

Encouraging news about Robert. He must be doing "well" if they are planning a series of operations to sort out all the other fractures.

Kimi has nothing to gain and might well damage his reputation like MS has if he returns.

If Senna gets the gig then the marketing/money men will have won and the racing team lost out. Seeing a pale imitation of the JPS livery is bad enough, seeing a very, very pale imitation of the great man driving it would be hard to watch.

Given Renault's driver list I would choose Nick.

Agree to both DLTs statements. Heck, even Grosjean has more potential than Senna, Liuzzi and Petrov - and he is nowhere near RK, too.

Kimi would be excellent choice for one year, but that will not happen.
Best choices remaining are clearly Hulkenberg and Heidfeld.

I'd go with Hulk! Cool

Nick was able to match Kubica, so Nick would be better. He has more experience than any of Renault's driver, which is important to Renault me think, since there were counting that part on Kubica. He has more to offer Renault that any of the other drivers combined.

True, BUT, would Robert himself be that happy to have Nick replace him?

I dont think it matters. The best thing for Kuby is that the team is not left weak by his absence, it needs a top driver to carry the flag. Nick is the most reliable driver available who can just hop in and do a good job. The team is screwed if Petrov and a noob/pay driver are doing the business.

The Hulk of course makes a fair amount of sense, but Kuby might not want to open the door to a developing rival either Smile

I want to see a good team of hardworking guys have a good driver to support their efforts.
