Yeh, reviews are starting to come in. More of the same, but more polish. The safety car looks cool.

Meh. looks and sound the same. Unexpected tyre blowouts? Yeah i love that....
Ill buy it and know i have wasted my money already.

And that review you say is more intimate and detailed is full of shit. A review buy some geek who dosnt normally tune their car. He also gave last years game a 9/10. what a pole smoker.

Yeh when he said that no talks about or cares about GT5 anymore? Whatever... Laughing

Just wait for Forza 4 and 10/10 or whatever it gets. Forget the fact Xbox doesn't have a decent steering wheel.

Yes but it won't work on any other device. So you need a wheel for your Xbox, a wheel for your PS3, etc.

At least our logitechs work on PC also.

I swear Microsoft are criminals. Standard peripherals? Nope. Standard Hard drive? Nope.

Its better, easier to catch high speed slides. The SC is pretty cool, and the fuel saving means you can use high fuel at the start, make up places then you have to save fuel towards the end and defend as you are way slower, need to do some Schumi style defending. You get told how the amount of fuel left, either +x (lap), optimum or -x. There is also a co-op mode championship that you do with a friend (your team mate), there are trophy's for that. A time attack mode, different scenarios and you have you beat a bronze, silver and gold time. The grip at low speed is greater I think, but at high speed, the car is unstable. Only really raced around Australia and Malaysia, but around Australia T11-12, its easy to completely loose it on the entrance to 11, and around Malaysia T5-6 and T12, its also easy to loose it, but once you practice you can get it to just slide a little (which is fun)

KERS and DRS is probably the biggest change, in quali its pretty busy using them all and using gears, and getting the 1 second gap in the race, it works well, you dont just breeze past and I am already planning when to overtake, and saving my KERS. Its also easier to completely f**k the car up. The DRS auto deactivated when you hit the breaks, but for some corners you need to self deactivate, for the corners you lift off, or for the ones that are only just about flat. Cold tyres are very cold, you have to be very careful, I got done my Liuzzi Smile After a lap or so its fine.
Smile

As for the SC, it comes out now and again. Its fun on lap 1, you fighting hard then you have to slow and weave. Its better than the formation lap in F1 C.E. You cant overtake the SC or other cars but you can overtake the SC if you are a lap down or you arent the leader, its lights flash like in real life. You can spin out, and you get respwaned, but when your invisible some cars overtake so you do loose out. The restart isnt brilliant, you cant really get a good run, its limited. Its a first attempt at this, its bound to improve over time. Havent had a red flag yet, but the SC is a good step forward....

So far, I am in an expert career, starting with Williams ( http://twitpic.com/6ow6vz ). First race, target in quali was P15, but i was miles off in P18.....target in race was P12, and I got P9 Smile

Bring on Malaysia!!

My pet peave with 2010 is the pit stops. When you pit from a high position and then get held up as the entire field pits and exits in front of you before you can be released. Does that happen in 2011?

Also the fact that changing the front wing angle is burried in a menu as opposed to a dedicated key. Do KERS and DRS have dedicated buttons in 2011?

you could dedicate a key to change the wing in 2010, and ye on KERS & DRS you can also set a key too.
(this is possible on PC anyway) dunno about consoles..

i dont know about this pit stops, havnt really noticed it..

How? It doesn't show up in the controls menu. Only those stupid menu buttons that give you tire and wing angle choices. Manipulating those while you're doing 340kph is extremely difficult, even when you have them mapped to your wheel.

Re: F1 2011

Post by WebHead on Sat Oct 29, 2011 6:42 am

So far, I am enjoying this game. I started my career on the highest difficulty setting racing for Williams on 20% distance.

I won Malaysia - it was a wet race - and finished 9th in both Australia and China. Turkey is next.

I have heard the pitstop bug is still around - I always change my race strategy by one lap to avoid it. It is also not a problem on longer races, because pitstops tend to be spread out at 100% distance.

No punctures so far, no engine failures, no safety cars, etc.

The DRS and KERS is actually a lot of fun. All practice and all qualifying I am deploying DRS and KERS throughout the laps. It adds another dimension.

So far in the races it makes it slightly harder to block cars all race.

I have managed only one DRS overtake, on a Lotus in Australia. Usually I am blocking all the time after overtaking half the field in the first corner.

The new physics model is very different to last years game. I think it is better, but it has it's own quirks. Putting the power down is probably trickier now out of slow corners. The car is also more likely to drift in a medium-high speed corner.
