It's been snowing continuously since the morning here. Thankfully, I can use the subway completely to reach my hotel without having to walk through the snow blizzard.

I'm getting tired of this tipping culture in North America. Everyone claims to be working in the freaking Service industry and expects you to tip them. I can understand tipping the waiters in a restaurant, but why do I have to tip the Taxi driver, the barber, the Bus driver, and everyone from whom i get any kind of Service ? What am I paying the Taxi fare for, if I have to tip the driver again additionally? Rolling Eyes
And if I'm paying 25 to 30$ for a freaking hair cut (a Hair cut back home cost less than 1$ for me ), why do I have to tip him another 15% of tax free ( for him ) money again? Shouldn't the 25-30$ cover his/ her salary too?
I used to think that tipping was voluntary but people saying that it is compulsory to tip 15-20% just pi**es me off. Why call it a tip if it's compulsory. And why should I tip you for doing your job? If your job doesn't pay you well, go and find another job and stop expecting tax free money from your clients.
This tipping thing has become so stupid that they expect me to tip them even when I'm having Take-Away food. I didn't realise I need to pay them 15% to just bring the packed food from the kitchen to the front desk. Grrrrrr Evil or Very Mad . Canada is the first country that I have visited, where this tipping culture is so pervasive and I really hate it.

I was reading an article about tipping around the world the other day and -since I will be taking my daughter to Disneyworld later this year - I got to the conclusion that I will have to spare a good amount of money just for the tipping. I was so baffled that I even tought about going to EuroDisney instead. Of course for the north americans this may seem completely natural but in my culture here in Brazil tiping is absolutely optional in most cases.

Heeeyyy!!

Lewis Hamilton in the January 2012 issue of GQ. He's featured in a 6 page spread with various Spring Collection clothing labels. He's pictured between a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL and a 1964 Shelby Cobra

Lots of things lost in the Tsunami are washing off on Canadian shores now. Just a few days earlier, I read of a kid's special football washed ashore. A Canadian couple picked it up and luckily, the wife knew Japanese so they traced the kid and called him up and sent him back his foot ball.

I missed you guys! I hope I don't lose the connection to the forum again.
