Hehe, I do know about Rugby and we do get it on our TV sometimes. But yeah, if it's not cricket, my country men are not interested. It's a miracle that we get coverage of other sports here. If it were up to the greedy guys at BCCI, they would ban coverage of all other sports and then have cricket matches on all 365 days.

Wales are no shot Ray, but if they can go knock off South Africa or Australia before the shuffle off then they will be popular here lol.

Actually Wales is already popular in NZ.

The home team should be the favourite, and Australia should be their closest rivals. I guess Wallabies' recent victory over All Blacks could be a sign of what's to be expected.

Yes, Springboks are always tough and I expect them to do well again. However, it's almost like a home event to Aussies, so I think the winner will be either Wallabies or All Blacks. It's such a long event, and I think being near from home will definitely be advantageous.

Well it looks as though the Aussies are based on the North Shore......the most Australian-like part of NZ. Im surprised they didn't send them to wintery Dunedin lols.

Haven't been to NZ yet, so I don't know where would be the ideal place to base on for Aussies. However, now that you've said North Shore is the most Australian-like part of NZ, I guess they've made the right decision about that.

The players will feel more at home if, during some point of the tournment, their families fly over and visit them, which is totally possible thing to do since it's only a few hour's flight. It's a one and a half month event and they might just need to do that!

100,000 are partying at the Auckland Waterfronts "Party Central", 61,000 at the Stadium, thousands at other places around the country. Its like the Olympics or Christmas Eve or something!!

I would rather stay home or go to the gym but I have to go out to watch the game with family lols.

NZ easily beat Tonga as expected. Argentina v England should be more competitive. Australia will play Italy tomorrow and that will be quite interesting as well, though I expect Aussie to win comfortably.

Tonga played very well. They are a country of only 100,000 but 40,000 more Tongans live in Auckland, so you can imagine the high levels of support here.

Romania almost knocked off Scotland.

I am watching Japan giving the Frogs a hell of a scare right now.

GO THE UNDERDOGS!!

Next is the Argies and England

EDIT: For the uninitiated the Rugby Superpowers are New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, plus France and England. The middle teams are Argentina, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The lower middle teams are Italy Tonga, Fiji, Samoa. The true underdogs are Japan, USA, Georgia, Romania, Namibia, Russia.

So its pleasing to see the lower guys having a good crack.

EDIT EDIT: Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are Mega-Powers rather than just Superpowers.
