OK - To make things interesting before the 2012 Season starts, how about we do a "Pre-Bet" of $10,000 on the likely 2012 WDC ........ bets MUST be done BEFORE qualifying at the Oz F1 GP on the 17th March 2012 with the results added to our final scores at the end of the 2012 season:

1, We take turns posting the odds from betting organisations - Yeah, that happened a lot in 2011 .
2, You must bet $10,000 each race
3, You must repay your $10,000 at the end of each race (tough huh?)
4, You may make up to three bets with the $10,000
5, You can make a default bet in case you cant make it or forget
6, You must use the same odds as are posted.
7, You must beat Monstar (.... and Rus ) by seasons end
8, You must calculate your winnings and loosings so that a leaderboard can be drawn up.
9, You must have fun

Fine print RULES:

Formula 1
173. All race bets are settled on the official FIA classification at the time of the podium presentation, with subsequent disqualifications disregarded.
174. All drivers who complete 90% of the race laps are deemed as classified finishers in line with the official FIA classification. However all drivers are given a ranking, and for the purpose of match and positional betting this ranking shall apply.
175. Any driver who attempts to qualify for the race proper and fails to do so shall be deemed to have taken part, and finished last of the drivers taking part. If two or more drivers fail to qualify, their qualifying lap times will determine their placing in the race result.
176. The start of the race is deemed to be the signal to start the warm up lap. All drivers are in play from this point on.
177. For race match betting the driver who finishes in the highest position is deemed the winner. In the event of both drivers failing to complete the race, match bets will be settled on the official Formula 1 result. Bets stand once drivers partake in qualifying.
178. Bets on the Formula One Championship and Constructors Championship will be settled in line with the official FIA results immediately following the podium presentation of the final race of the season, with subsequent disqualifications disregarded. The drivers’ and constructors’ championship titles are awarded to the driver and constructor who score the most points over the course of the season. In the case of a dead heat for a championship place then the driver or constructor with the higher number of superior race results will be awarded the place.
179. Qualifying consists of three sessions whereby the six slowest drivers from each of the first two sessions will drop out leaving the remaining drivers to compete in the third session for the top places on the grid. Qualifying betting will be settled as the fastest lap posted during this third qualifying session. With respect to all bets on qualifying, either outright or match betting, the official times as recorded by the FIA will apply for the settlement of bets. Any subsequent penalties or demotions imposed shall be disregarded.
180. From the formation of any race market, bets are considered to be non-driver no bet. Any bets on drivers who fail to take part in the race for any reason other than non-qualification shall be deemed void. We reserve the right to deduct the equivalent Tattersalls’ Rule 4 (c) to reflect returning stakes on non-drivers.
181. First driver to retire is a bet on which driver will be the first to retire from the race. The bet begins with the signal to start the warm up lap. Bet settlement will be determined by which lap number a car retires on. Should more than one car retire on the same lap then Dead-Heat rules apply.
182. First Car to retire. Bets are in play once the parade lap starts. Bet settlement will be determined by which lap number a car retires on. Should more than one car retire on the same lap then Dead-Heat rules apply.
183. One lap wonders is a bet on how many drivers will retire from the race before they complete one lap proper of the race (not the warm up lap). The bet begins with the signal to start the warm up lap.
184. For all A1 Grand Prix markets, both for the feature race and the sprint race, all bets are settled on the official A1 Grand Prix classification at the time of the podium presentation for the respective race, with subsequent disqualifications disregarded.
185. Leader after the first lap. For settlement purposes the winner is deemed to be the driver leading the race as they cross the start/finish line after one classified race lap (warm-up lap not included). In the event of one lap not being fully completed all bets will be void. If the race starts under the safety car all bets will be void.
186. Will there be a safety car period during the race? A Safety Car Period is defined as the need for the Safety Car to run in front of the leading car during a specified race. Should the race start under the Safety Car, then all bets concerning the Safety Car market will be settled as Yes. If the race finishes under safety car conditions but the safety car has not had time to get to the front of the leading car this market will be settled as Yes.

- just a WDC tip reminder .... one can also bet EACH WAY at one-fifth of the winner odds .... that way one collects something if your Driver comes in 2nd or 3rd place too ....

OK - here is an example, say, we bet on Massa $5,000 "each way" ... that means you have $5,000 on him for the win and also $5,000 on him "for the place" (2nd & 3rd) calculated at one fifth odds ....

He is $34 "for the win" (1st place) and for a 2nd or a 3rd, he'd pay $6.80 (one fifth odds).

So, if Massa say came third in the WDC and you only made a bet for the win, you'd get ZERO / NIX.
But, if you had $5,000 "each way" (total of a $10,000 bet) you get $5,000 x $6.80 = $34,000 .... a "net" win of $24,000.
Naturally, if Massa actually came 1st, you'd win another $174,000 ($5,000 x $34) on top of your $34,000 !!
