2012 Brisbane International - Pics
Our local tennis stadium in Brisbane, Pat Rafter Arena, and the 3rd running of the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament.

It's a small event, with a 32 player draw. The crowds are about right for a tournament this size. It's a very nice atmosphere. There is market feel in the open areas.

Lexus as one of the major sponsors, had an LFA on show. It's a sexy machine for sure. But would you really pay that sort of money for it?

It's a cute little stadium. I've played on it before, and down on the court the ball echos magnificently. It sounds like you're hitting the ball really hard. Tonight was the Women's Final between Hantuchova and Kanepi.

Kanepi is the in-form player, whereas Hantuchova moved through the last two rounds with a walkover from Serena Williams and a retirement from Kim Clijsters. Hantuchova is dressed to kill, as usual.

But Kanepi is too strong. There were some great rallies but it was a dominating 6-2 6-1 in the end. You can see the start of the ceremony.

Kanepi receives the trophy from the 7-time Grandslam champion and legend, Yvonne Goolagong-Cawley.

I will be at the Men's final tomorrow, between Andy Murray and Alex Dolgopolov. I will also see a few rounds of the Australian Open in Melbourne later this month. It should be good! I'm hoping to see the great man Federer before he retires (who knows when).

Tomic lost to Murray as expected but he played well in this tournament. He should have plenty of confidence going into Australian Open in Two week's time. He will play in Kooyong next week and I think he can do well in Aussie Open. His ranking also improved to 37.
I am quite excited by this group of young talents. Tomic, Dimitrov, Raonic, Harrison and even Dolgopolov, although he's 23 and a bit older than previous four, will take the top of the rankings after the era of Federer-Nadal-Djokovic-and-Murray. Dimitrov seems really talented. Apparently, he likes Federer so much that he wants to be like him. The guy has everything from ground stroke to serve, so he may become the next Federer, indeed. Raonic could become either next Sampras or Roddick, we'll see, while Harrison seems to be Agassi type player. I think current talent pool is so deep in men's tennis. Bring back the golden era!

Nice Pics Webhead. I wanted to attend the Australian Open when I was in Melbourne, but I returned only a few weeks before it started.

Easy win for Andy Murray today. Sorry no pics, there was a big dude with a big head blocking my view for most of the match.

Re: 2012 Brisbane International - Pics
I have some pictures from the Australian open, but only on mobile phone since I couldn't be bothered taking my camera.
It is a pretty impressive facility.
I went on on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and that's all I am seeing this year.
Managed to see, among others:
Federer
Nadal
Djokovic
Haas
Del Potro
Hewitt
Tomic
Stosur
Serena
Wozniacki
Li Na
Azarenka
Schiavone
Gotta say, Djokovic was the most impressive of the elite group. Nadal seems like he is lacking that little edge he used to have, and Federer just isn't as dynamic around the court and relies too much on his amazing talent and technique.
I will post a pic of Rod Laver arena when I get a chance.
