How long til Massa gets the boot?
How long will Massa keep his seat?
Simple poll, becuase I have a feeling he won't finish the season in the Ferrari.
Whether his problem, or just the car not suiting him, I don't think Ferrari will tolerate performances like todays for very long!
Also might be good to look back at later on in the season to see how our votes turned out.

Massa has had bad starts to the season in past and has 'recovered' ... though i think this time a recovery won't happen.
When he goes (seasons end or otherwise) .. who will replace him ?

I think he will last all season because Ferrari dont tend to ditch drivers mid season, and I very much doubt its contractually possible so Felipe would have to agree to it.
I think Felipe needed a good car this year to be back on form, sadly its a shit bucket that dosent seem to suit his style.

Who would want to race that POS anyway? Massa would be happy to drive something else.
But i reckon Perez will replace him, either before the end of the season or next year.

The problem is he already had a poor season compared to Fernando last season and if he is this much slower this season, he can't even do an Irvine job for him.

well its only a first race and we need to give him sometimes. He is a slow starter anyway.

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
I highly doubt a team like Ferrari will change drivers halfway through the season, so he'll definitely last the season. Hopefully he gets dropped for next year though. Him and Perez might switch cars, right?

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
He had the worst possible start of the season - but can't blame him at this time. And the car won't help also. I mean, come'on... when I saw that Maldonado was on Fonzi's tail for several laps, and getting closer and closer...
Ferrari won't replace him until the end of the season, that's for sure.

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
Massa always reminds me of a born loser, and in F1 today he is exactly that. In Melbourne, he drove like he had 'born loser' tattooed on his forehead, a few more performances like that and Ferrari would be very silly and wasteful to not ditch him.
Slow car or not, you need to keep your teammate within sights....Massa was running 13th when he retired, Alonso was running 5th, both qualified horribly. No excuse.

If Massa keeps performing like this, I would like to see Perez in the Ferrari.

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
IMO, Ferrari will retain Massa in his race seat until the end of this season/end of his contract.
I believe if Ferrari had a WCC/WDC capable car this season and Massa continued to perform as he has, then Ferrari would more likely make a driver change.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I guess there is the potential to substitute Massa before the end of the season if they intend to replace him next season with Perez or Bianchi.

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
If Ferrari is not able to create a decet car, they can not ask for more to Felipe. He is not Alonso obviously. When the Ferrari car gets the same level of RBR and Macca, we will probably see better actuations from him. I doubt any other not top 3 driver could do better with that car. Remember Badoer and Fisico actuations and you'll have a clue...
Massa is a good 2nd driver as he has demonstrated when the car is not such dog...

You still need to be able to drive a dog car somewhere near the pace of your teammate.

Not true if your team mate is an exceptional driver (unless near means not 0,6 but 1,0 sec faster than you...)

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
It's a mystery why Massa is even still there, to be honest. I read somewhere that he's the first driver for Ferrari since 1992 not score a podium in an entire year.
Massa has a long history with the team since his days as test driver - but why he is there boggles the mind. Too bad for him to arrive at such frustrating days compared to losing the championship by one point in the final race in his country ....

Its very much contractually possible, Ferrari would just need to pay him for the rest of the season and sit him out
The only thing i dont get is why people are still talking about "he doesnt deserve to be in that car, i want to see such n such in the ferrari etc", they are talking as if Ferrari is a premium car at this time
I guarantee even Maldonado, B Senna, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Vergne, Ricciardo and Hulkenberg would want to stay with their current teams if given a choice today

It's only been 1 race, so relax. Massa can improve (i doubt it, though)...
... but in any case, who should Ferrari replace him with?

Perez's name has been thrown around a bit, but what about Webber? He was mentioned in the same sentence as Ferrari not long ago.

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
I don't see neither of them switch teams during the year. Ferrari would need to bring in someone from the outside.

Re: How long will Massa keep his seat?
Webber will most probably take his seat but only from next year
Massa can then start looking good again against a pay driver
