Santander to back Massa in kart races in Brazil
Felipe Massa has unveiled Santander as his main sponsor in the two major kart races organized in Brazil. The Spanish giant bank will back Massa at the “International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions” on Saturday and Sunday (November 28-29) in Florianópolis and the following week at Granja Viana 500 Mile in Cotia near São Paulo.
Santander, one of the partners of the Scuderia as of 2010 and whose logos will appear on Ferrari’s car and driver’s overall from next season, has been increasing his participation on Brazilian market and is currently the 4th biggest bank in the country.
Massa is looking forward to starting a relationship previously supposed to begin only in 2010. “I’m glad to get this support from Santander. Lately I met President Emilio Botin twice and he is absolutely excited about the potential of the Brazilian market. I’m sure we are setting up a strong partnership”, Massa commented.
Santander will début as Massa sponsor in a fine style. The fourth edition of the “International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions” will once again attract top class drivers from international series as Michael Schumacher, Giancarlo Fisichella, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Luca Badoer, Rubens Barrichello, Tony Kanaan, Christian Fittipaldi and many others. Massa won the event in 2006 and was afterwards followed by Schumacher in 2007 and Barrichello in 2008.
Massa will also be backed by Santander at Granja Viana 500 Mile in his chase for his third victory. Champion in 1997 and 2002, Massa will lead the karts numbers 19 and 91 along with his brother Dudu, Renault third driver Lucas di Grassi and national series and kart racers Felipe Lapenna, Júlio Campos, Felipes Apezzatto and Victor Guerin. The traditional endurance race is scheduled for December 4th and 5th.

Massa names drivers for karting event
24 November 2009
Ferrari's Felipe Massa has announced the names of those who will be contesting this year's Granja Viana 500, his annual karting event. Amongst the drivers taking part in two-kart teams are GP2 racer Lucas di Grassi and Dudu, younger brother of Massa.
With the Granja Viana 500 a popular event each year, Massa has listed those who will be competing in the race. As well as di Grassi and his brother, Massa has invited Formula Renault Eurocup driver Felipe Lapenna, Brazilian Stock Car Lights' Julio Campos and south American Formula 3 driver Victor Guerin.
"I think we've set up a very strong group of racers, capable of facing Rubens Barrichello's favourite team," said Massa. Williams driver and Brazilian compatriot Barrichello opted to miss this year's second test session, however, due to rain.
With the next practice period scheduled for Monday, the main event will take place over the course of Friday and Saturday of next week.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa has returned to racing for the first time since his life-threatening accident last season.
The Brazilian driver finished third in a charity karting event won by Michael Schumacher in southern Brazil.
Massa was hosting the "International Challenge of the Stars" - an event that raises money for local charities - for the fifth successive year.
The 28-year-old suffered a fractured skull in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix in July.
At the time of the accident there were fears that Massa could have suffered loss of vision.
Veteran F1 driver Rubens Barrichello, whose spring flew off the former Brawn driver's car to hit Massa in Hungary, also took part in the charity kart race.
Massa, who has had plastic surgery on his injury, is not due to return to F1 until next year.
Ferrari hired Italian Giancarlo Fisichella to replace Massa for the final five races of this season after a neck problem prevented seven-time F1 champion Schumacher from driving in his place.

FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil — Formula One driver Felipe Massa beat Michael Schumacher in a charity karting race on Sunday in his return to competition four months after a life-threatening accident.
The Brazilian edged his former Ferrari teammate in the final race of the "International Challenge of the Stars" in southern Brazil, a weekend event hosted by Massa for the fifth straight year to aid local charities.
Schumacher won the first race Saturday and clinched the overall title after points from both races were added. Massa finished third Saturday in his first competitive race since crashing his Ferrari in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 25.
"This is fantastic, even better than I expected," Massa said. "I did well racing against the best drivers in the world. I'm extremely happy."
Things could get even better for Massa this weekend as his wife, Rafaela, is expecting the couple's first child. He had a plane waiting for him at the local airport in case she went into labour in Sao Paulo.
Massa missed the final part of the F1 season because of his injuries in Hungary. He suffered skull fractures and a left-eye injury that required multiple operations.

Re: [F1] Felipe Massa Fan club
The Massa family is delighted to have welcomed the first child of Raffaela and Ferrari driver Felipe on Monday night as Felipinho was born in São Paulo.
With Raffaela's pregnancy having been a dramatic one, not least due to her husband's near-death experience after crashing in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, both mother and baby are in good health.
Born at São Paulo's Albert Einstein hospital, Felipinho weighs in a 3.370kg (7.4lb) with a height of 49cm (19.3in).
At Jerez on Tuesday morning for the young driver test session, the Ferrari team sent its congratulations to the family via a special photograph (top), with the pit board message reading 'Benvenuto Piccolo Felipe' or, literally translated from Italian, 'Welcome Little Felipe'.
