Bahrain changes circuit layout

Bahrain will feature a new section making it the second-longest track on the F1 calendar when the championship opens at the circuit in March.
The race organisers have decided to use the 6.299km ‘Endurance’ layout for the seventh running of the Bahrain Grand Prix which adds eight corners and 0.8km to the track.
The extra sections of the track have been in place since 2006 but have not yet been used by Formula 1. The circuit owners say the extended version of the track “can play host to a maximum of 120 cars at events such as the 24 Hour Race of Bahrain.”

Re: Bahrain changes circuit layout
I don't know what to say of Bahrain. The track is great to drive in (though I've only driven it in a simulator), and it's pretty to look at, but it's so no memorable... It's a dumbed down Istanbul, in my opinion. It lacks it's charm, and, as great as it is, isn't as great as Istanbul (again, only in a simulator).
I think the new section drive like Suzuka sector 1, that twisting section... Or maybe like Valencia, which I despise with all my heart.

An extra 8 corners and .8 km won't make the circuit any less dull and boring.

I think the modifications would've helped if we have had cars with manual transmission. But lets wait & see what will happen.

I agree. But it'll give the drivers, even the more experienced ones, more of a challenge.

8 corners in 800 meters? 1 corner per 100 meters as average!
No way is that helping passes as they claim!

The longer the track, the more spread out the cars will be, the less often cars will come across backmarkers (if any) and so we lose another factor for overtaking opportunities......
