Im missing the feeling of a Mclaren/Ferrari/Williams win.

Post by Mika-Juan-Kimi on Sat Aug 30, 2014 5:58 pm

For Williams its been over 2 years since they won a race. 2012 Spanish Grand Prix

For Ferrari its been over a year since they took the checkered flag. 2013 Spanish Grand Prix

For Mclaren its been almost 2 years since their last race. 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix

I dont know but i miss these teams fighting for wins. I think it was 2003 when all 3 teams were fighting for the win every race.
Im all for new teams winning but redbull/mercedes winning in such dominate fashion turns me off. Where are the fights, when will be go back to race where atleasst 3 teaams have realistic chance of winning the race. Dont mind me just F1 being on my mind this holiday weekend

I don't. Ferrari/McLaren more or less had 10 year stranglehold on the podium. I'm happy (perhaps happy isn't the right word) to see them not quite up there.

I agree that it can be boring to see the same one or two teams fighting for the win race after race, and nobody would enjoy seeing 5 different teams were consistently battling for the top spot on the podium more than I would, but as long as there are only two teams up there, I'm quite content that they aren't Ferrari or McLaren.

Either way Williams and Ferrari aren't too far off. A four horse race in 2015 would be nice, wouldn't it?

I have to agree. With the drama filled Mercedes debacle with a car 1 second quicker at almost every track - the lack of competition in a straight fight is lacking in a big way. DR is a great driver with a future - it's a shame that the likes of FA and (insert driver) someone at Mclaren are not able to fight for win.

Yeah, well...

I found the Ferrari dominance 5 years in a row much more boring. 2002 and 2004 were the worst years ever. And 4 years of Red Bull with 9 wins in a row in the last year was quite close to the Ferrari dominance...

Atleast @Merc the drivers can race fairly. This in contrast to Red Bull en Ferrari who were over-obvious in their preference of 1 driver. That creates incredibly boring races!!!

I've pretty much given up even following F1 for this season.
So sick of all the "Mercedes Mercedes Mercedes Mercedes Mercedes" going around

Will there be any livestreams or something?

edit: nevermind, found something: http://www.fiaformulae.com/en/guide/television.aspx

Unfortunately, it will only be shown on pay-tv where I live. Only a tiny fraction of the population will be able to watch it. What a great way to promote this new formula! [/sarcasm off]

I just read an article on a regular news site about it.

Some of the facts about it made me lol, like "The battery of the car only lasts 25 minutes". Since recharging or changing the battery would take too long, the drivers will simply jump into another car to keep going! Talk about a pit stop.

I was surprised how many of the drivers I already know: http://www.fiaformulae.com/en/teams.aspx

This Mercedes dominance is just for 1 year (as of now...) and as mentioned above at least they are free to race - resulting in some Ricciardo wins, and nice controversies, so don't complain. 2 of the RedBull years were worse, not to mention the Ferrari years... but even then I could find something interesting making me keep watching every race, like who would be 2nd Laughing

On the subject, I don't mind McLaren and Ferrari not winning at all, and I don't expect them to be winning anytime soon, either. Those teams need to be rebuilt and that takes years. Just like it did in the past...

Williams on the other hand, I am cheering for them and it's great to see them improving!

Ooh I'm not. Smile

It's a new era L&G...the era of Mercedes AMG VS Redbull Racing for the next 4-5 years. Two mighty teams with serious resources who have the chips to continue bluffing on the big Roulette table while the rest simply watch on and hope and wish.

It's been a great year, and it's only going to get better. PopCorn
