Where's Fernando going to go?

Post by 00521 on Wed 8 Oct - 17:00:51

Looks like Vettel really jumped Alonso in the F-1 musical chairs game...

Alonso wanted to leave, but Vettel pushed him out before he was ready.

McLaren wants 2 years, not one... and yet no one knows how good the new Honda power plant will be, after so many years absence from F-1... Worse, Ron Dennis is giving him a pretty tough negotiation fight.

So, where's Fernando going to go?

Will he take a year off... , and just aim for Mercedes in 2016?

He could be Cycling Team Director (means retired from F1). I think he has expressed this desire before. Although as it seems, is not good to be forced to retire. He should have come with that decision before the music started to play

LCDM said their thoughts were Bianchi to be driving the third Ferrari car. Is this now a near to real possibilty to see a third car from main teams? Alonso, Hamilton and Nico in Mercedes at the same time, explosive!

Marussia might have a spare seat going, unless Button is squatting over it Smile

Alonso wants a Mercedes seat, but Mercedez doesn't want Alonso.
McLaren is best option for him, but does he go there is another matter.

I am talking about 2015 only. 2016 Mercedez might change their minds.

Zag,

£100 million?...  The Ferrari Contract?

Wasn't it written in stone to go until the end of 2016?

Therefore, he has to sit out the season, ...or else work for peanuts.

VERY tough break...

Ah... yes, that was interesting.

That little intrigue had Ron Dennis pay off Bernie's fine to the German Courts on the Gribowsky bribe light years in advance.

Have to give the entire bunch credit for forward thinking...

I am sure Max had a decent amount too....

It is funny to think that if Fernando goes to McLaren he will have more Ferrari data than was
ever the case the last time....  and like last time, utterly useless..!!

Panda,

It's so surreal... as you so correctly said... he's misplayed his hand, badly and Vettel jumped in.

So here's Alonso... one of the top 3 on the grid at ANY time, maybe even the BEST of the field when he's "ON".... and he may be essentially finished in the sport...

All because of the high stakes poli-trix off F-1 and the rush to fill seats with nameless, young drivers who work for less, bring cash for paid seats,  and also bring a different age demographic.

Had he not argued with the Scuderia's new management... there might have still been a 3rd car for him, should Ferrari choose to ever go that route... but not after the rumored, heated, argument with Mattiacci... if that indeed even happened.

If big teams go three cars route, expect Ferdi at Merc!

BUT, he has said himself that his next car does NOT have Merc engine!

Cool

Alonso out of Ferrari is only a rumour as said by himself. Anyway I don't think he will stay one more year there and Vettel is in Ferrari for sure though he cannot proclamme that until Fern says what he will do next year (maybe Kimi's again out of Ferrari...) Everybody's future depends on Fernando decision. If that is not a TOP1 driver, I don't know what you call that.
Retirement or sabatic year is not an option said himself also.
Sometimes I don't know if you are talking of the same Fernando Alonso Diaz... You'll be surprised in the next days (as said himself also)

It's the only logical place. Perhaps Button should go to Ferrari - I suspect he'd do better than
Kimi - sorry Gary

I have to say, with regret, Button will not feature in next years F1 line up.
