2014 FORMULA 1 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX

Message par Jarnooo le Ven Oct 10, 2014 7:09 am

Everybody's minds are no doubt on Jules, but lets look forward to Sochi.

Marussia have named Rossi as the replacement to Bianchi and seem to be preparing a 2nd car, so it's likely that they will compete.

I wonder if there are any big protests being planned.

EDIT: Marussia have said that they will only run one car this weekend out of respect to Jules. It is a nice sign but one that I don't feel is quite necessary. May as well withdraw the team for this weekend? I don't see why putting Rossi in the car this weekend could have hurt.

Here.

I can't stand this track. It looks the same as Valencia, Korea, Yas Marina, India and COTA. Has no identity of its own.

Turns 1, 2 and 3 are exactly the same as Valencia's turns 1,2 and 3. Except this time they've made it completely pointless and can't wait to see how many times it will be bypassed by the drivers.

The semi-circle corner is interesting, until you remember that it is a copy and an extension of turn 7 in Shanghai.

GIVE THE CIRCUITS SOME CHARACTER PLEASE MR. TILKE. Or how about you f*ck right off from F1.

End rant.

Eh, I just came in to say that after catching the repeat telecast on the practice session. I cant stand all the new Herman Tilke tracks in general. And this looks another boring no overtakes track.

Agreed,

VERY cookie cutter.

These 'new' Tilke street tracks are much like an old CART 'street' track reality, only with actual permanence and resultant trackside facilities that are world class.

Nothing of any really quality like an organic track of the past, SPA, Monaco, etc.

These are all mass produced and so plastic feeling.

The grandstands, sponsor clubhouse seating and team facilities are beyond high-tech, but the track layouts themselves have no soul.

Not good for the TV audience, and probably pretty predictable to drive, also.

Now the next Tilke track looks like it will be Azerbaijan.

(Amazing how BE gets these venues in unstable, nations that desire to look 'hip' and 21st Century, while their citizens are kept impoverished).

HMMMNNN.

The only advantage is that they are modular, can seemingly be built overnight, and FOM gets a good profit.

I predicted it would happen. Cutting on lap one at turn 2. Happened in GP3 and GP2. And it will happen again for the F1 race. What a stupid, thoughtlessly designed and pointless corner. Evil or Very Mad

As expected, the run off areas is absolutely pointless, so many people ran wide there. If you don't put gravel there at least put some humps like in Monza.

Not pointless!  Part of their purpose is for safety as they slow the out of control cars quicker and in a more stable fashion than gravel traps do.

Humps will have potential dangers of launching cars into the air or weakening suspension units.

Race Control should penalise drivers who leave the track with a drive through penalty and then they may do a better job of respecting track limits.

Well that was boring! Reminded me of a Bahrain race a few years ago, super exciting first 5 laps, hyped myself up for a thrilling rest of the race, only to be disappointed.

Congrats Mercedes. However, the engine freeze made it too easy for them. Ridiculous to have that in a year with so many rule changes.

Agreed but the engine freeze pretty much guaranteed their win after developing the best package over the winter by not allowing other teams to catch up. It also robbed us fans of any close battles between teams.

Redbull weren't fast because of their power unit, plus there has never been a bigger change in the engine specification than this year.

Yeah, sure.

After Merc spending many millions of Euros/Pounds/Dollars on engine research & design, and getting it right, lets just let the other engine suppliers "copy" our success  ......  otherwise it "won't be fair"  ...

Get real man! Razz
