Caterham fired all their F1 workers and will not race finally in Abu Dabhi.
What will they do with the money from their fans now?.

"...But administrator Finbarr O'Connell said it had been done by staff request.

"I'm not sure this is the bad news. This is what the employees as a group have been asking me to do," he said.

"This is what they want because it brings them closer to receiving money and if you speak to any of the staff representatives, they will confirm to you that 14 November was the date that they gave me."

The team went into administration last month and staff have not been paid since 30 September.

O'Connell explained the redundancies had come at the behest of a majority of the staff who had wanted to start a formal claims process if the team is not sold.

The claims process takes at least a month before any payments are made..."

Nothing stops them employing the key staff they need on a one week contract to cover the race preparation and race period. Then they can race.

Some members may refuce but who in their right mind will turn down a final pay packet and a week in the sun?

Caterham raise 3 million pounds - but fire their staff whilst still owing them pay. Gee, the administrators seem to have their priorities straight!

The staff will get compensation from a Government scheme.

The Administrator is probably considering that if the team race, there will be more chances to find a buyer and then many of the jobs will be protected in the longer term.

We have some good but strange employment laws in the UK.
