WDC ended with a sort of toss of a coin. But Lewis drove so good he deserves it.

Lewis is a deserving champion, but we really need to give more credit to Rosberg. Not everybody can stand up and fight Lewis all the way to the last race.
By the way, Lewis's start was one of the best I ever seen. Perfect

His start reminded me of Mika Häkkinen's start at also last race of season to decide the championship. And yes, he also won.

Agreed ... in the end, 3 reliability issues that give no points for each driver - Lewis got robbed in Q3 twice but in the
end was the better driver of the two. However Nico put it to Lewis on occasion like no other driver has in opposition
to who many consider the top - I doubt anyone could predicted that Nico would edge Lewis in qualification sessions -
2014 was probably the most errors we have seen from Lewis in his career because he was on the edge trying to beat
Nico. Race day - well Lewis showed who had it- Nico had little to offer in comparison ...

Great race.
Congrats to Hami for winning the race and becoming world champion for 2014.
I felt for Nico having such bad luck for this most important race of the year.

Re: 2014 FORMULA 1 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
Icing on the cake:
“I think it is great for Perez, but a bad move for Hamilton.”
“Lewis’ best days may well be behind him at 27 years of age.”
“The move makes no sense if the guy truly (as he did say himself) thinks only about winning. McLaren have long been and are today vastly more competitive than Merc and if you are rational you should stay there if what you value mostly is winning. So what is left as motive for still making the move is money.”
“There is no evidence anywhere to suggest that Mercedes is a better place to be than McLaren going forward.”
“He’s leaving a team who will almost definitely produce a challenger year in, year out to go to a team who haven’t yet produced a challenger at all bar a one off in 2009 and that was only because they spent a full year developing. Even then they were slow come the end of the season. For a man who says his only priority is winning races this is complete and utter stupidity.”
“Mercedes are clearly lacking a stand out designer and I feel Hamilton’s career really is mimicking Villeneuve’s.”
“Why go from a regular winning team to another that does so sporadically, if not for the money? It can’t be for the winning, whatever Lewis might say.”
“Just enjoy the ear-ring clad, “I dont have my girlfriend or dad anymore” 1 time champ, who has a history of being given everything on the platter right from his youth for once having to fight in what i think will be a sub-par car.”
“I fear Lewis has chosen unwisely in his management – his actions are those of a wannabe global celebrity, rather than someone with a desire to be seen as an F1 all-time great. (Something I believe he clearly has the talent for). Disappointing.”
“Yes, Ross Brawn delivered many WDC’s to Shumacher, but Shumacher had that hunger for success already! Hamilton might have a hunger for success, but his hunger for fame over-rides his hunger for wins!”
“The grass may not be greener, but it’s got more bling I guess. If that’s what motivates him.”
“And there goes his career. I just can’t see Merc becoming a top performing team any time soon. The Brawn went from championship winning car to also ran Merc in one year, and hasn’t improved much since. They show early season pace and then it drops away.”
“Terrible decision, despite all his difficulties at McClaren. Turned himself from one of the big players into an also ran in one foul swoop.”
“It’ll be a great shame to see a driver of the quality of Hamilton in the mid-field, knowing that he chose to be there out of sheer greed.”
“Funny that he should move from a team that doesn’t let him have his trophies, to one where that’s not likely to be much of a problem.”
“Hamilton will be left struggling for 5th and 6th place finishes, whilst Vettel and Alonso will be fighting for championships in the years ahead. This will be the start of a very wrong turn in Hamilton’s career.”

Re: 2014 FORMULA 1 ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
They are all quotes posted on James Allen's F1 website...
Here is one from someone we have to put up with on the BBC..
“I don’t see Lewis winning races in 2013 – and there has to be doubts that the car will be good enough in 2014. And it is easy for a lean couple of years to develop into something longer. Just look what happened to Jacques Villeneuve after he joined BAR having won the title in 1997. He never won another race. Lewis has got a tough task ahead of him at Mercedes. It is a gamble” – Allan McNish
McNish also said before the last race that whoever wins the WDC deserves it.. totally ignoring all that had
happened in the last year...
Same old, same old... we like the Scots but the Jocks don't like us... J. Stewart has said similar things
recently.. perhaps he didn't like his GP win record blitzed.. (While Our Nige was overjoyed...)

Google any one of the quotes - nothing comes up except a post on JA's site. Sure there naysayers about Lewis's move
to Merc - but not to the extent of those quotes... in fact there were people praising Lewis's move in a more positive light
as well back when it happened.

You guys are all the same. It all has to be gushing over Lewis in all regards to comments or it gets met with this -
and even nationalities are now mentioned.... oh brother. There's nothing wrong with what Mcnish said - it was
a possibility and it says nothing of criticism to Lewis. Who knew Mercedes would build a rocket in 2014 that would
not give any other team a legitimate chance at pole or a race win at any track on the calendar?
Murray Walker was one who was not gushing about Lewis even this year, of course he's just a senile old bastard that
has been covering F1 4 decades....

I have never 'gushed' about Lewis... and have not seen much by both the public or the press,
indeed the opposite is usually true, sometimes to a nasty/ill informed level..
While I have a lot of time for Murray Walker, I have met and talked to him a couple of times, I do
not agree with everything he says (like believing MS didn't crash into DH on purpose..).. but do
like the guy..
As to nationalities I speak as I find and my comments regarding the Scots, especially where
sport (all sport) and sportsmen are concerned is absolutely right. Perhaps you would have to
live in the UK to see it...
It wasn't McNish's prediction I objected too just that he didn't have the grace to admit he was
wrong (as Brundle did) and then to think, from a seasoned driver, that whoever won the WDC
would be equally deserving..
To my mind the best driver ever was Jim Clark, he was Scottish..
You seem to think you are the only one with any valid view on this website and anyone who
doesn't see things from your point of view is just wrong.
it will not dissuade me from my views or from posting them.

ps. You still owe me £5 from last year when I bet with you that Lewis would top Nico in the
points..

Sorry, that's a very empty statement. It's more down to an opposing view or opinion is just as valid as yours as is an ex-driver or f1 personailty for that matter... You even misread my post as I never said you were gushing. I said comments from those not gushing get met with your comments and you even introduce nationality to the conversation.
Long live Murray. He won't be with us for eternity ....
Yes of course I remember the bet - I think I even PM'd you on that. Tell me the charity you want me to donate (that's what we did last time) and it will be done, no problem.
