Mercedes is already down to 1.23. Amazing time.

Not sure what Red Bull is hiding underneath those testing colors.

Nasr topping the times in the Sauber. Either it is going to be a really competitive season, or Merc are sandbagging.

Sauber does what small teams always do during test season: they try get sponsors!

One never knows from testing, period. Remember how good BMW looked back in 2007?

Meanwhile if the Ferrari pace were real, I'd be happy.. Be nice to to have a competitive season.

Mclaren is in SERIOUS trouble

Well, I don't think anyone can touch Mercedez or Williams, at least first half of season, but I do hope Red Bull & (especially last year's clueless) Ferrari can up their games and start challenging those two teams on second half of season. McLaren now, I don't know what they can do, probably not very good. Lotus might get high up in midfield, instead of almost dropping from it last year. And yes, if Sauber speed is not done only to get sponsors, they are in good shape!

Everything looking positive then. Also talk of Marussia making it to Melbourne as a B-Team to McLaren. Interesting stuff.

I'd like Marussia to be someone's B team so we get another competitive team aka the next Toro Rosso.

Highly doubt Sauber's pace is true. Their car designs looked backwards.

I'm generally against B teams, because although they are more competitive, they will never realistically challenge up top. However, I guess I'd rather a B team than no team at all.

Sauber's car looks basic, but it should hopefully drag them back to the midfield.

Test times says nothing, but of course is better to complete hundreds of laps than only 38 due to the problems. Anyway I think we will only know where every team is when they start racing in Melbourne. Probably Ferrari is in a better shape than last year but I don`t think they will be a challenge to Merc. Also don`t think McLaren is so bad as they look in Jerez.

According to some reliable analysis at Autosport, Ferrari/Red Bull/Williams have shown around the same pace with Mercedes a tad faster. The gap has certainly closed down.

Mclaren is very interesting because currently Honda is only running at about 60% power. They are always down by 10-20km/h on the straights. Their best lap today by Alonso is 1.3s down on the leaders, but the leaders are on soft and he's on mediums which is 1.2s slower...+ the fact they do not have MGU-K running. So all in all they have a fast but unreliable car it seems for now. I would put my money on them challenging for poles but getting DNFs till race 4.

Accident of Alonso in the test in Montmelo this morning. Taken to medical center for preventive checks but he looks to be OK. One more issue for the team to be delayed for the setup of the new car/motor.
