Jarnooo a écrit:It's been reported that after the crash, when asked about himself, he said he was Fernando Alonso, drove karts and wanted to be an F1 driver. He was clearly in a bad way.

Sounds VERY worrisome.

Let us hope Fernando recovers completely, though I am worried about another crash in 2015, before his brain heals completely, and what that might mean for him.

I never worry about Alonso's abilities, rather it is the actions of people like Grossjean (who almost decapitated Alonso a few years back...) and Maldonado, often reckless, far beyond comprehension, who really worry me.

What worries me the most is that we still don't know the exact reason for crash. Based on other drivers opinions I think that McLarens explanation ("wind") simply can't be true. Could it be that something was wrong with Fernando before the crash...

KoKiNa a écrit:A very strange accident... as the car is almost intact. The four wheels are on its place without apparent damage and the crash is in parallel to the wall. Fernando stayed unconscious inside the car for ten minutes and then they take him to the medical center and to the hospital by air.

The more credible theory actually for me is to have received some electrical shock from the MGU-K unit, before he crashed slightly onto the wall and after 50-100 mts. the car stopped by itself.

As per...

KoKiNa's is the best theory that I have thought credible.

I agree that the 'wind' theory is doubtful. Unless it was gale force.

Well set up, aero usually does very well in adverse wind... but again, anything is possible.  There could be a portion of that track where downforce just goes away in particular crosswind.

Certainly, it is possible, but rather doubtful.  The 10 minutes unconscious and without proper assistance, also leads me to think it was somehow electrically related....

McLaren have changed their statement on this accident and especially about Fernando's condition so many times now that I lost the count of it.

Last rumours says the right semi-axle (drive shaft or whatever you call it in english... Smile ) was broken before the accident causing it.

One thing is clear... McLaren is not much transparent as we knew ever.

Looking at the few truly credible/honest sources in this case, it seems that the accident was not about the car - but about Alonso himself.

With that in mind, the behaviour of the various parties involved is not that surprising really (like Vettel changing his "story" after a meeting with Ron Dennis). It's awkward, but I believe it will be up to Alonso to end the saga, whenever he's ready to do it.

Ahahaha, classic Ron Dennis!

"I understand why the press beat me up. I wanted to be open and honest. I failed. But it is my objective to try to be as honest as possible in the future," Dennis added.

He now concedes that Alonso had to sit out Melbourne due to the 21-day waiting period after a concussion.

Ron Dennis failing at honesty? Say it ain't so!

So Ron admitting this, makes me suspect him telling it because he wants to hide something worse.

McLaren's Fernando Alonso will compete in this weekend's Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix after passing the FIA's mandatory fitness tests on Thursday.

Very Happy

It’s good to have Alonso back. Although this won’t make any difference to the top of the grid, it brings flavor. And flavor is what he has added to the whole speculation and drama that have surrounded his accident. According to Alonso, we know now that the cause of the accident was a locked steering. No wind gust, not even “a hurricane wouldn’t have blown the car off at that speed”. He also says that was always conscious all the time except when medication was applied. I’m happy that he is ok and would like this version of the story be true… mechanical failure.

but, Jenson Button insists in the opposite:

JB a écrit:It's one of those things, isn't it? But after seeing the data and watching the steering trace, my view hasn't changed from what it had been when I saw the data initially. I feel comfortable getting into the car and driving it.

guess we would never know

So many levels of conspiracy and cover up. We are being lied to about something, we just don't know what. Looks like we're gonna have to wait for an autobiography.

The thing that amazes me is that despite all the time that has passed since the accident, it seems the driver and the team still haven't been able to come up with a common stance on the issue (if just to shut up the media). Everyone's living up their respective reputations, I guess.

Jenson Button is pretty much the only guy in this I personally find trustworthy.

Whatever.
