2015 F1 CHINESE GP

After FP1 everything looks normal. Merc easily in front, Ferrari second, Mcl slowly closing the gap (still far off)...

After FP 2 it's more like Hammy front, Kimi or Vettel on his side, then 3rd is Nico or whichever Ferrari driver doesn't get grid 2. All this assuming trouble free qualifications.

Nico seems lost at the moment.

Nah - he just didn't get his fast lap right , he was working on long runs the entire second session.

Good work Sauber!

At least Williams seems to be there or there abouts, but I don't think they'll be able to beat them with Ferrari's superior tyre life. Kimi still can't get a clean lap together though lol.

That was a pretty standard race. Nico needs to get into Lewis' head somehow or it's going to be a walkover.

Good overtaking from Verstappen, but I have a feeling he's going to T-Bone someone very soon. That being said, he's very good at braking late and still making the corner cleanly.

Nice win for Lewis - he increases his lead over Vettel and had Nico upset... It's all going to plan.

Seeing Lightmas here - reminds me of the days when he would show up when MS was faster in FP and he'd proclaim dominance... lol ... the good old days.

Lewis on Nico's whining:

"I grew up watching the sport. You want to see overtaking, you want to see a battle.

"I want the guy to be up my ass if he's got the pace to be up my ass, and if you can't defend it, you lose it.

"I want to race, man. This is motor racing. Racing," he emphasised.

"Nico didn't try (to overtake)," Hamilton continued. "They (Mercedes) said maybe he was just comfortable second and I said, 'Well that's the difference between us'."

Best overtaking(s) of this race goes to: Kimi! On his first lap passing both Williams.

Minus of the race: Nico!
Honorary minus of the race mention goes to: track people for not getting F1 car through a hole in the wall in time for last lap racing to happen! Was most frustrating, albeit comic also LOL.

I see where Nico is coming from. He challenges Lewis, his tyres go off, Vettel gets him at the next stops. However, this is F1 and he should have taken that risk, otherwise he is showing he's comfortable with P2.

Either way, this is exactly what the championship needs. Nico to get fed up with Lewis so he actually attacks.

Why on earth should Nico have to get fed up with Lewis before he
actually attacks?  Nobody else seems to need to be fed up before attempting an overtake....

The truth is he couldn't attack because he just wasn't quick enough... he should have
just accepted that Lewis was quicker in China instead of crying like a girl...

Sad but true, this isn't the same Nico I rooted for last year. Shame really, unless Sebastian, or heaven forbid, even Kimi also, start to challenge Lewis, and thus making this season's WDC interesting. Otherwise we will have only excitement in waiting for those few races where Ferrari can seriously challenge Mercedez. Bahrain might be one of those tracks BTW.

He needs a reason, otherwise he would have already done it. Now that he knows Lewis is only looking after himself, he won't go looking for his help.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that if Nico attacked, Lewis could have easily matched it, but the important thing is he didn't have a go in China.

He needs a reason?  How about trying to win the race..

If you think when Nico is racing he is also looking out for Lewis...  please don't be so naïve, they are ALL
out for themselves...

I agree with Gary, for some reason Nico seems to have lost something this year..
I hope he gets it back but most of all I hope he stops bleating...

Nico has not lost anything from last year - his pace is just fine.  What he has lost is the ability to stop stammering in the press... that's usually Lewis's job.  He's on about something every race it seems..

If you accuse a teammate of going too slow to ruin your race and you didn't try to pass .. I mean ... lol ... what more is there to say?  The thing is they had discussions about pace and how it would affect the 1-2 versus the Ferraris but in the end it comes down to Lewis really didn't give $uck - and Nico crying in the press conference just makes him look weak and stupid.   He should have just STFU and packed up and went to Bahrain with a different plan.

Last year - Nico had a 25 point lead from Oz - made it look better than it was - Lewis won 4 in a row ... he's at 3 right now and this weekend may make it 4 unless Nico decides to drive and talk less.

I disagree, something is different... maybe mentally, I don't know...

Even after the first race he was saying 'well Lewis is world champion, what could I do'..  that doesn't inspire confidence..

As to the pre race discussion that would count for nothing whoever of the two was in the lead... drivers do not
care about their team mates when they are leading them....   see how long it takes most drivers to get out of
the way when asked too by the team..  sometimes not at all!

F1 may be a team sport but each side of the garage is a separate team...

I think it's more in line with Lewis is a WDC and the team directive above racing each other is
securing 1-2's. Even Toto has said that just before China that it's not about two guys racing - more
about a huge company and the 1000 who work on the car.

Think about it:

Nico was within no more than 4 seconds and never attacked at Oz. Yippee Lewis is a champion driver!

Malaysia they were split by the pit stop. No real part where Rosberg was close to Lewis..

China - Lewis in front slowing so much that Kimi was catching Vettel and Vettel catching Nico > Nico
says "speed up" and it's known that the entire scenario that was taking place was discussed pre-race
by Nico / Lewis so that it would be dealt with .....

Now one can say that Lewis managed all three races so well, ya da , bla bla. I'd like to know when did
Lewis ever drive so slow (when he easily could go faster) the 3rd place car (he is 2nd in the WDC) was
within 4-5 seconds.... hmmmm.... thought so ... never happened.

I think something changed in the garage in respect to racing wheel to wheel. Maybe I am on drugs.

Whatever Toto may or may not say it largely goes out of the window when the race starts... although
the part about a team mate taking out another probably has some impact on one of them..(!)

Tyre degredation was largely unknown on the Mercedes so Lewis was driving as fast as he needed too while
conserving his tyres, covering the unknown Ferrari plans ...  'if' it was impossible for Nico to get closer to LH
because of the loss of aero then the same would have been true for Vettel and Kimbo so his position was secure..

The truth of the matter is Nico has just not been quick enough in the first three races and blaming
anyone else for his lacklustre performance is a pity. I don't take any pleasure from saying it but to me Nico
seems, so far, to have lost a little something...

Yes, you are probably on drugs........

Interesting. Compare results Malaysia 2nd (+17.313) and China 2nd (+18.686) from last year in relation to this year.
Nico was not even on pace with Lewis until Bahrain. The truth of the matter is that Rosberg is closer to Lewis on pace than last year
at this point.

Lewis had a huge lockup on his softs run - meanwhile the bigger story is Ferrari having much better pace than
