Maybe Mercedes should take a cue from Ferrari and give inferior engines to the teams they supply Razz Laughing .

Laughing exactly. Ferrari will never wish to finish behind Sauber and they will do everything to avoid that. Laughing

Mercedes relying on developments to close gap

"(Brawn) The team did a good job in Bahrain but we accept that we were not competitive enough and that we have work to do to close the gap to the leaders," he said. "I was very pleased with the performance of Nico and Michael and the way that they worked together to provide clear and consistent feedback to develop the car over the weekend. Whilst our car is fundamentally strong, we have a development plan in place for the next few races which should bring the required performance improvements to compete at the front."

Earlier this week Rosberg said he felt Mercedes could challenge for a podium finish at the next race in Australia, while Schumacher is hoping to draw on his past successes to give him an edge in Melbourne.

Something for me to look forward to...

I maybe wrong, but this is the first time I've seen schumi not wearing a cap, while Rosberg is. Usually its the opposite.
And why is Rosberg is behind Schumi and his helmet is blocked. I would thought they would put them side by side. But probably because, Schumi are well known here compared to Rosberg. And doesnt Schumi's heck looks 'skewed' to the right a little bit??

Mercedes still in the running - Brawn

He's still positve: Smile

Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn has answered critics suggesting his team may already be out of the hunt for the 2010 world championship.

On Wednesday Mark Webber said this season's title fight was now between Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren, which have tended to outpace Mercedes in the early rounds. But even though star-driver Michael Schumacher's performances have disappointed some, his team-mate Nico Rosberg is just four points off championship leader Felipe Massa.

Brawn is confident his team's challenge is far from over and believes the new scoring system has the potential to swing the course of the championship in just one race.

"The title fight is far from decided. With the new scoring system, just one race weekend can have a dramatic impact on the [championship] standings," he told Auto Motor und Sport. "Nico is extremely fast and has run very good races, especially in Malaysia.

"But with every weekend Michael is gaining more and more momentum. Both will get good results when we give them a car that matches their talents. Then they will be right at the front."

Mercedes is believed to have a major upgrade planned for the Spanish Grand Prix that could take the form of a 'B'-spec car.

Daimler and Aabar take full control of Mercedes GP

Daimler AG and its partner Aabar Investment have now taken full control of the Mercedes GP team, after buying the final 24.9% share from the previous management team led by Ross Brawn.

Daimler, Mercedes' parent company, now owns 60% of the team, while Aabar, which is Daimler's largest single shareholder, owns the remaining 40%. Brawn, who alongside other investors bought the team from Honda ahead of the 2009 season, will stay on as team principal despite selling his share. Daimler said the deal underlined Mercedes' commitment to Formula One.

"This majority stake holding demonstrates our determination to build a long-term Formula One involvement on an even more successful platform," Dr. Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said. "Our company's founders invented the automobile 125 years ago and the very first Mercedes was a racing car. These are the reasons why we see our Formula One programme as an important element of our brand history. The acquisition of a majority stake holding in our Silver Arrows team sends a clear signal that we intend to achieve technical and sporting success on world motorsport's biggest and most important stage - and to do so in cost-effective conditions."

Brawn is confident it is a positive move for the future of the team.

"Daimler and Aabar's acquisition of the remaining 24.9% stake in Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix will be a further step in the consolidation and strengthening of our team for the future," he said. "Motor racing, particularly Formula One, is a very specialised industry, and we are privileged to have such strong and understanding partners as Daimler and Aabar to support our joint ambitions. I remain fully committed to our team for the long-term, along with the management team and all of our employees. We all look forward to the challenge of making our team successful, and proudly representing Mercedes-Benz and the racing tradition of the Silver Arrows."

Now called ....... Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team !

Mercedes tweaks name for 2012

Mercedes will be known as the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team in 2012.

The addition of AMG is a move to include the performance brand of the Mercedes-Benz company, with the Mercedes AMG brand already the most successful in DTM racing. Team principal Ross Brawn said that the new name signalled the desire of Mercedes to be even more competitive next season.

"We are very proud to reveal our new team name today," Brawn said. "It adds another strong performance element to our team's identity and, by virtue of being shared between Brackley and Brixworth, will forge even stronger links within our team. At the factory, we have been focused for some time on the challenge of 2012, and our very clear ambition to move forward up the grid next year."

At the same time as announcing the name tweak, Mercedes announced that it would not run its new car until the second pre-season test in Barcelona on February 21, and Brawn said that would allow the team further time to find performance.

"As always, the winter development and manufacturing processes are a trade-off between time for finding performance in the factory, and time for delivering that performance during pre-season testing. We believe that the decision to run the car at the second winter test is the optimum compromise for our design and development programme with F1 W03."
