2016 Launch Thread

Post by Jarnooo on Mon Jan 25, 2016 2:18 pm

Don't know how much I'll be using it this year, but here's the 2016 launch thread.

I've made semi-realistic mock-ups that I've posted on my blog. What do you guys think?

I think they look mighty nice.

Very nice... particularly like the Mercedes and Red Bull but all are nicer
than the teams will come up with..

Looks like PDVSA (and Maldonado) are OUT at Renault:

Kevin Magnussen is set to replace Pastor Maldonado at Renault's new Formula 1 works team for the 2016 season, Autosport has learned.

Sources have confirmed Magnussen is poised to sign a deal over the next few days, before being officially confirmed at Renault's launch in Paris next Wednesday.

Autosport understands the move follows a disagreement between the French car manufacturer and Maldonado's long-time sponsor PDVSA, Venezuela's state-owned oil and gas company, that has led to the contract being dissolved.

Monisha Kaltenborn will sure sign him as one of the 6 or 7 guys she's going to promise their 2 cars to.

I've never participated in the "launch threads"... what are they for? Covering the launches of the new cars?

I just enjoy talking about the new liveries mostly Very Happy

This can be about anything to do with the new season I guess, no biggie.

I'm guessing a lot of people will be happy to see Maldonado out. Huge love fest over Magnussen. He was alright, but I don't really see what all the fanfare is about.

Just a week after Mark Webber said "Maldonado shouldn't be in F1"...

Pastor Maldonado wrote:"Today I most humbly inform you I will not be present on the starting grid for the 2016 F1 season."

...turns out he isn't.

As usual fantastic job Jarnooo. Some of these team seriously needs to hire you, Every year I get excited for new season livery reveals only to be disappointed every damn year. Like Redbull my god why cant they just follow their can. I hate the drink but love the design. Put it on the damn car.

Ferrari- Heard they will be more white which sux

Mclaren- Why are they so clueless when it comes to livery design when they had the best ever design (West Mclaren)

Redbull- Sigh

Toro Rosso- I feel like ive been saying this for over a decade. Use the sugar free can design PLEASE

Renault- The testing livery is crappy but i dont have much hope on the official one. They have the colors to do something amazing though

Mercedes- Use Jarnoos' design or make the main color turquoise

Williams-Jarnoos design as I always want livery changes every year

Manor- Man Jarno you need to get in touch with these teams absolutely love it.Spam them if you must

Force India- I had high hopes of the aston martin deal. I love British Racing Green. Jarno has a good design

Haas- Somehow i feel we are in for a disappointment. What happened to the Ferrari yellow. We dont need another team with red in it

Sauber- Dont really like the shade of blue they use but they couldve done way better than what they had in 2015.

Its one of the only things that gets me excited still and im already prepared for lackluster designs.

Love the feedback MJK. Renault's livery seems to just be interim. Spoke about it a wee bit here.

I would be pretty happy with that. I always said I didn't want more white, but it's different at least and the "logo" on the engine cover looks a bit better on white.

In this video, there are some (vague) shots from the Mercedes getting it's paint done. It looks like there could be more black and turquoise, but it's so under wraps it's impossible to be sure.

Looks like there will be some lines wrapping around the front of the nose which I usually like.

The new Redbull livery is nice. seems like they took Toro Rossos shade of blue. This might leave the hope of the sugar free shade of blue for the junior team. Prays lol

I agree that they kinda stole STRs thunder. Wishful thinking MJK! I don't see them ever using a sugar free livery.

I wrote a bit about Red Bull here.

Who knows though, with the Ferrari engine, STR may actually get ahead where it matters most! Their chassis was great last season already...

Livery opinions only

Post by Mika-Juan-Kimi on Sun Feb 21, 2016 3:18 pm

Ferrari- it's a nice livery with a better shade of red and the white doesn't ruin it at all
Mclaren- so boring, they can't get a title sponsor.....
Sauber- pretty much the same with a different rear wing livery, not a fan
Mercedes- better than last year, I like the changes
Haas-I like it, but was hoping for a daring ferrari yellow, o well

Disappointing year of liveries. Overall, I have to say that I think the Red Bull looks the best. We'll see what they look like come Melbourne.

I'm torn, the yellow is vibrant and a welcome splash of colour, but the black was sleek and beautiful.
