Cockpits in Open Wheeled Formulas Questionnaire

Post by paul_hailes on Sun Mar 06, 2016 10:51 am

Hi Guys,

I'm currently producing my dissertation for my degree in Motorsport Engineering. It considers whether head protection system implementation in open wheeled formulas is best for the sport and safety. It would be great to get your opinions on the subject so please take a short amount of time to complete this questionnaire.

Thanks!

Hi Paul,

"biggest impact" as in biggest benefit? You may think that's obvious but my connotations when I hear things like motorsport and "impact" are all over the place. And I do believe some of those concepts do impact driver safety - in a negative way. Which is one major reason why they haven't been introduced yet. The questionnaire by itself can be a little confusing in that regard. I found myself stumbling there quite a bit despite thinking I know what you mean...

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! You are right in saying that particular question could have been better worded as indeed I meant the biggest benefit. I displayed all of the proposed concepts, even those that have been dismissed due to their negative impact on driver safety, simply to offer people the chance to have their opinion on each one.

I apologise for any ambiguous questions but I appreciate your feedback and your time for completing the questionnaire!

Another thing I noticed, question No. 7 doesn't offer you the option "should not be mandatory". So while I had to pick an answer (otherwise the questionnaire wouldn't be sent), the answer I gave is not representative of what i think.

So you'd either have to have another choice, or the option of sending it without answering the question.

This is all meant as constructive feedback!

Wishing you all the best for your dissertation!

I had the same problem with question 7, picked an answer but explained at the end
there was no option I wanted to choose..

I am with Lewis on this one... leave things as they are, plenty of other formulas if you
want your bonce covered!

Good luck with your dissertation and degree Paul!!

I appreciate all your feedback, and I always take any criticisms as being constructive anyway!

Question 7 has caused a lot of commotion for this exact reason, unfortunately there is nothing I can do to rectify this problem. However, I will be discussing this as a limitation to my research within the dissertation.

Don't worry, I will take your opinions into consideration to ensure that your results are representative of what you think!
