FORMULA 1 - GRAND PRIX de MONACO 2016

Message par 00521 le Jeu Mai 26, 2016 8:18 am

Here we are 2016 @ Monaco.

The Crown Jewel since 1929, when William Grover-Williams won driving a Bugatti 35B, we are indeed fortunate that in today's world... Monaco will never be just another cookie cutter racetrack.

May we have a safe race.

Enjoy!

Interesting laptime there from Ricciardo! I'd assume he used the new Renault engine, and was 6 tenths ahead of the nearest Mercedes. Doesn't count at this stage, but nonetheless, pretty interesting!

Uh-oh (about FP1):

The session came to a conclusion three minutes early when Nico Rosberg's Mercedes appeared to kick up a manhole cover at the bottom of the hill at Turn 1, which bounced across the track and underneath the McLaren of Jenson Button. The cover destroyed the McLaren's front wing and gave the 2009 world champion a puncture, an incident which could have been much more serious if the cover had bounced towards the cockpit area.

My favorite Monaco race is still Schumacher in the wet in ... forgot when it was. But I still remember how much fun I had watching it!

Looks like Mercedes found yet another way to keep Hamilton from winning in Monaco. Another "technical problem" in Q3... now in 50% off all qualys so far this season.

Ricciardoooooo!

Lauda said at the end that both cars had high fuel temps; Nico's wouldn't start and Lewis' stopped. Put the tin foil away!

Lewis Hamilton's Q3 session was compromised by a fuel pressure issue that saw his engine cut out at the end of the pit lane as he prepared to go out on track.

Perfect timing! Lewis had been significantly faster than Nico all weekend and should have challenged for pole otherwise.

Mercedes always come up with a problem on Nico's car when they don't exist or hamper him in any way to
try to mitigate Lewis's ongoing nonsense...

I thought Lauda was ok but now think he is an idiot...

I guess they're trying to soften the media backlash that way. That's obviously extremely important to them (open letter, apologies etc.).

Lewis agrees:

It was the third time in the last four grands prix that Hamilton had encountered a technical problem in Q3.

"It was a difficult qualifying, I don't really know what to say," said Hamilton.

"I did get out to get a lap, it was not as bad as some have been with respect of engine problems.

"Pole was there for the taking."

He keeps adding something along the lines of "if the car stays together" these days. It's a sad state of affairs.

Yes, pole was there for the taking.... if he had had a proper go at it!!

I cannot understand the amount of nonsense talked and rubbish decisions made, not just by
Mercedes but many teams week after week...

How these people get to be running multi-million pound F1 teams, including
all the so called strategists,  I do not know...

If all else fails tomorrow, and Lewis is miraculously leading.... call him in for new tyres...

Incredible.

If not impossible... (mathematically).

Internal sabotage.

Cordial Best,

00521

I don't like the word sabotage because of its broad implications. It is obvious that tons of "mistakes" are made on Lewis' side of the garage. "Human error" is what Wolff just called those things.

I think the main culprit is a decision that was made before the season started:

autosport a écrit:Nico Rosberg has praised moves by his Mercedes Formula 1 team to swap mechanics between his and team-mate Lewis Hamilton's cars for this season.

Whether you think it's intentional or not, just incompetence or something like deliberate neglect to seek revenge for past frustrations - it's pretty clear that it will (if it hasn't already, which is what I think) determine the outcome of the WDC. The fact that the fastest driver in the fastest car with the most reliable engine has no realistic chance of winning makes you think that "bad luck" is hardly the term that applies here, on the sixth weekend of the season already.

You just know that whenever it starts to count, whenever it looks like there's finally a chance to start turning things around... it'll be dashed in a hurry!

And the engine problems that ruined Lewis qualys earlier (and gave him grid penalties, and will result in future grid penalties) - an explanation for them was never found.

Has it been explained by Mercedes what the thinking was regarding the mechanics
swap? ... and why would Nico be so pleased?
Did he think his mechanics were less competent than Lewis's ?

I would guess that it is a management decision to re-distribute staff, so as to negate the feeling that there are two teams within the Mercedes team. As a top team I would suggest that all of the mechanics are well able and skilled. Also by mixing up the work force you can cross pollinate skills and training.

Reading reports today it appears that both Mercedes cars suffered the same fuel pump issue, the only difference was that Rosberg's failure occured before he left the garage and was quickly fixed, Hamilton's happened on track, well in the pit lane, so with recovery time it cost Hamilton more.

I guess the conspiracy theorists will want to claim either;

Mercedes are falsly claim that Rosberg had the same issue!

Or

The sent Hamilton out first knowing that his car would fail on circuit while they fixed Rosberg's.

As I always feel, not since the days of Enzo Ferrari, have a team sabotaged their own drivers, there is so little to gain and so much to lose in terms of Sponsors, Team Points, Credibility and loss of prestige.

But the mechanics were swapped lock stock and barrel... no cross pollination there..

Why would Nico be so keen to see it happen, I cannot see him being interested in training or
were all his mechanics YTS yoofs??..

Why would you change a winning team? It doesn't make sense..

Whenever Lewis has a problem Mercedes are quick to say 'Oh, Nico had the problem too but we
were able to manage it...'

Cant say what, but the laws of probability say something is going on.
