Far Cry 2 - finished

Post by Rus-Evo on Fri Feb 12, 2010 10:12 am

Well I just finished this and I would say:

Positives:
Driving around freely.
Buddy rescues.

Negatives:
BOOORRRIIIIINNNGG
Characters are stale (except some of the buddies) I couldnt give you a name (or who the other characters work for)
REPETITVE (Dull, you just go kill someone and come back)
Story (You dont even care why you do stuff, and you dont even end up remembering what faction you did a mission for).
Endless fighting on the road (its not hard, just frustrating).
The lack of civilians or an economy (supposedly 2 million refugees)
Game world doesnt feel real.
Not much choice, just obeying
Hardcore level is EEAAASSSY PEEEESAY

I have to say this game would have worked far better as a true sequel to Far Cry. It would explain the lack of civilians and predominance of mercs, it would explain the small game world. The lack of true towns and all that.

Oh well...on to Assassins Creed.

Yes. Similar to my observations. Far too repetitive and a plot that makes you feel conned about even bothering to make decisions as, whatever you do, you can't change events.

I was tempted by assassins creed but was put off by the reviews saying too many tasks were (once again) repetitive and uninteresting. Neutral

Well I dont expect it to be as good as Fallout 3.......that was more immersive.

Fallout 3 is my benchmark (its not perfect but its good).

Fallout 3 and Bioshock are my fave games. I think Bioshock wins out, just! The original STALKER is close behind.

Am just downloading the new STALKER Call of Pripyat. I had vowed not to buy it because the first sequel was so badly bugged but initial reviews of this report no bugs. YAY.

Hmm actually my list of top games is flawed now I come to think about it. I forgot about COmpany of Heroes and Battlefield 2 which I loved. Probably spent more hours on Battlefield 2 for a couple of years than any other game.

And the new one is out next month!

Battlefield 2 multiplayer looks interesting.

Yes it should be viewed as multiplayer only really. No fun any other way. I dunno how popular it is now mind you. Battlefield Bad Company 2 out in March so I shall be playing that for hours no doubt. Pity about my dumb timezone though.
