I like to think its because Skynet is a totally different kind of intellegence and thinks differently to humans and maybe it had to calculate the results of changing the past (as this may have triggered a threat to itself somehow), it also may have been supremely confident that he would not be able to escape. Or it felt that history would be least altered if the let the Terminator kill him after he had gone to the past.

The CGI Arnie was a nice surprise, I was keen to see if the OLD Arnie would do a cameo and the the young Arnie stepped out.

Dark Knight came out in 2008 and Transformers probably in 2007. Transformers 2 came out this year.

For me , the best action movie of 2009 was probably "Star Trek" . I liked 2012 better than Transformers 2. But i do get a laugh everytime i think about Transformer heaven Very Happy .
The best movie of 2009? Probably "UP" .

That's a good explanation i guess Laughing .
The ending(The heart transplant in a tent ) was kinda stupid too Laughing , reminded me of Crank 2 Laughing .

The real ending is that John Conner dies and the Terminator takes his skin and leads the resistence!!!! (I think this was in a book). But the hollywood types were not brave enough to do that (might hurt the sequels).

ohh yea they were shown in theater early. The release year i was saying is based on bluray. Very Happy I havent watch 2012. So I don't know how good is that. Transformer 2 is good if you dont think too much into the story.

I want to see Avatar too, but we don't have any 3D equipped theatres here Sad . The nearest IMAX is around 600 kms away Very Happy .
Story wise, it doesn't seem to be anything new and i have seen a few movies with similar storylines. I'm interested in seeing what James Cameron has done with technology. He is known for pushing technology in movies to the max.

I watched A Serious Man last week - probably the darkest comedy, and the most Jewish film I've ever seen (i.e. directed by the Coen brothers, about Jewish culture and philosophy, nearly all the characters are Jewish).

Last night I've seen The Boat that Rocked. It's a good movie, but a more interesting/alert story could've been written.

"Avatar" is being released here on the same day as in the US. Only big action movies get the same day release here and "Avatar" is being hyped up big time over here. Cameron's last movie "Titanic" was a big hit over here and that could probably be the reason for the hype. But i doubt this movie will come anywhere close to Titanic's gross. The movie has been dubbed into 3-4 languages and is being released simultaneously in those languages, alongwith the English version mrgreen .
But I guess i have to thank James Cameron coz finally, we have 4 theatres which have upgraded their projection systems to show the movie in 3D. Atleast now, i can watch movies in 3D Very Happy .

i'm very curious abour Avatar. it'll be on theaters on friday. the trailer looks promising. i don't know a lot about the movie plot, but i have a feeling it'll be good. and yeah, must see in 3D :geek: with the goofy glasses.

and the movie cost $500 million! gotta help the guys to get some of the money back Laughing

edit: i just watched this. great technology, they really seem to make it all realistic: Avatar: Extended Featurette - Making a Scene

Ive read the reviews. Except for Roger Ebert, who compared this movie to Star Wars Shocked , most of the others have said that the movie is breathtaking in technology, but lacks in the story telling aspect. I'm not expecting too much from the story, as it seems like another movie with a Green agenda, but I'm hoping it will make up in the technical department.
The plot also reminds me of a movie called "Outlander" Very Happy .
Cameron says the script for this movie was written around 10 years back but the technology wasn't ready back then. So they had to wait till the end of 2005 to start production on this movie.

I hate Spanish cultural level.

I have to choose between original version (only in small theaters) and 3D
(Kinepolis or Imax). It´s a shame!

Avatar, eh?
I dunno, might watch it, but I am not sure I'll go through the hassle of going to the movies. Laughing

I am sceptical about these new technology driven movies. They are very shallow and lack substance. For your eyes only, no brain required...

you mean the 3D version is dubbed Reignman? that is indeed a shame.

i hate all dubbed movies. luckily almost all foreign movies are released here in their original language. (except animations and child movies. and even they can be found in original most of the time.)

yep, but these are the few movies worth the difference.
A very good story can be enjoyed on DVD. Movie theaters make the difference when you need a better image&sound system, IMHO.

watching the movie in a theatre is weird. sometimes it makes you go "whooaa" to some movies, that you wouldn't really enjoy if you were watching them home. i don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing though Laughing
