One should be able to "live" without putting oneself in mortal mortal danger. This is not mountain biking or skateboarding, its a sport with massively significant and ever present danger (no matter the skill of the jumper or quality of equipment).

If these guys can't live without it, I recommend counseling!!

I believe these types of people live with a condition affecting the dopamine in their brains. They cannot get excited until it is extreme, and then they just need more. Most of us can easily get a fix from normal things that are far less dangerous.

I know it depends on where you are coming from.....but based on the information I have read about for these personality types, I feel like I am watching mentally unwell persons trying to commit involuntary suicide.

Please don't be offended Ray, I know you can be a bit of an adrenaline junkie yourself!!

If you learn properly and act sensibly very safe.

In 20 years and many thousands of hours flying I survived unscathed Very Happy

But you are a talented pilot.......... I am just a dude who dreams of flying.

Hanggliding and stuff like that sounds awesome.... but for an average joe like me, I can only afford to do a selection of awesome things.

Travel / Mountain Biking / Hiking is the top of my list and this is getting my attention.

Now if I was rich........

At the risk of sounding insensitive Neutral

Like anything else in the world....you either know what you're doing...or you don't Neutral

Like.........
- operating power tools
- trying scuba diving
- maybe sailing
- how about mountain climbing
- etcetera....etcetera....etcetera...I'm in the hospital because I wanted to try it.... Rolling Eyes

LOOK!!! Just because you strap on a pair of skis doesn't mean you know what to do if you get too close to the trees or choose the wrong run and find yourself among a trail of moguls.

Get yourself trained before you get into your risky hobby Neutral

No disrespect, but, choose your entertainment wisely Sad

Some things are more dangerous than others!!

Some of my activities like hiking sometimes wind up with people dead and lost. But I still do it because I plan and prepare properly and can minimize risk to acceptable levels.

Like skiing, it can be fun, but if you do the super downhill you can die even with a lot of talent.

I would definitely do the ones with more controllable risk and avoid the ones with less controllable risk. My life is too valuable to me and others.

On TV now, The skiing from Kitzbuhel, the downhill on the Strief!!!!!

Shortened course today because of the weather but still awesome Very Happy

I have been privilidged fortunate enough to have skied the racecourse and survived.

I can tell you that is the scariest thing I have ever done in my life. It is impossible IMO to "...plan and prepare properly and can minimize risk to acceptable levels..." you just ski and reach speeds in seconds that you know that "I can't fall, it will hurt too much."

The one thing you don't get from the TV is the noise! The sound of your skis, the sound of your body through the air, it is so loud!

It never seemed to matter which wax I used, how or what angle the edges were sharpened.....moguls made a mess of me way back when.

I agree with how exhilarating the sound of wind across my ears and steel digging into the snow/ice....just awesome...that's why I hate wearing the helmet now.
