Alonso leaving F1

After 17 years... and lean years at grossly under-performing McLaren...

Fernando is making the correct decision.

Not Correct, but Forzed, I will say...

Bad for F1 to see one of the best drivers actually leaving because of the lack of opportunities to get a winner car...

Alonso's F1 plight....is of his own making :ugeek:

Renault, Ferrari, McLaren and the F1 community found out Alonso was...

Too expensive
Too outspoken
Too selfish

And yes, too bad! Crying or Very sad

But then again, I expect him to do well at Indy Smile

I don't think his 'diva' was what cost him this, more his lack of properly helping with car development. He is definitely one of the absolutely fastest there is, but he needs car that has been made fast without him. I hope we see more of him, like in Indy or so.

May not be totally Diva reasons...but I can't help thinking about how he partially ruined his credibility with his first McLaren stint. Alonso didn't react too well to the ultra fast and competitive rookie Hamilton...thank goodness... for Kimi winning WDC Smile

The double stacking pit incident at Hungary, helped by Alonso's business agent?? I forget who he was....was not impressive at all. Lewis was sitting behind Alonso at the end of Q3 even though the lollypop went up as Alonso continued to remain in pit chewing up valuable time. Result, Alonso P1 and Lewis P2. Mind you, Ron Dennis wasn't the easiest to work with.

As for car set up.....doesn't matter if the power unit can't remain consistent throughout the season to establish a base line car set up. But, more lost Alonso credibility by openly mooching the Honda power unit. We can see it's a piece of shyt.

Glock didn't move over, he was on poor tyres for the wet conditions and was just getting around the best he could.. you make it sound like he purposely got out of Lewis's way which isn't true.  For the whole year Ham more than deserved the WDC!!

Fernando was/is a great driver but spent his career burning bridges...  would have loved to
have seen him in the same team as Ham (x2) or Vet...

Calls 'em as I sees 'em :ugeek:

I just saw the tape once again. Glock was in the middle portion of track surface within the turn. Lewis comes up from behind....then Glock is on the very outside of the trum with the Toyota's rear in complete control. Lewis benefits and drives through. The only thing missing was a bow tie.

Masa deserved the WDC.

"I had no chance to resist the guys on wet tyres because they were just so much quicker," he explained. "I had to stay off the racing line because there was so much tyre rubber on it, which becomes incredibly slippery in the wet. I don't know how anyone can think that I just pulled over.

"I was just driving my line where it was safest with dry tyres and, if Lewis had not overtaken me in that corner, he would have overtaken me on the following straight because there was no way I could go flat out on the dry tyres.

"I had the car in fourth gear to minimise the wheel spin and was just concentrating on bringing it home. In that situation you cannot think about the championship. I was driving my own race and I wasn't looking out for Lewis or anybody else. I was too busy trying to keep my car on the track."

Massa didn't deserve the WDC that year or any other....

Alonso rejected 6 times offers from RBR to drive for them two of them this year. That was not easy one to eat for Mr.Marko and Mr.Horner, I suppose... Laughing

I think they had 'talks' with his manager/representative but not a firm offer... but it is
a big pity that something could not be worked out, it would have been great to see him
in a top team again!
