Maranello, 5 June – “You will return stronger than ever.” That is the belief of Luca di Montezemolo, which he shares with everyone at Ferrari who, through ferrari.com, wish to send a message of best wishes and support to Valentino Rossi, who today was the victim of a bad fall during free practice for the MotoGP Italian GP, currently taking place at the Mugello circuit, which will presumably keep him out of racing action for some time. “Everyone at Ferrari is with you at this difficult time,” added Montezemolo. “We are sure that you will be back on track soon, even stronger than before. If during your convalescense you feel you would like to do some training on four wheels, then remember that the door to Maranello is always open to you.”

Sad that Rossi broke his leg, very sad!, the Moto GP championship is going to be much worse now that he is not there. But he'll be back soon and strong, that's for sure!

Anyway, congratulations to Pedrosa for his great win!

Rossi tested a Yamaha superbike and wants to get ready to return to racing 4 weeks after he had an open fracture...

Crazy!

So Rossi is returning by the next race. And Stoner has signed for Honda next season Shocked . Seems like Ducati is stuck with the lame duck champion as their no. 1 driver, unless they sign Rossi or Lorenzo Laughing

Well, Hayden is not THAT bad...
and Stoner is still to crash-prone.
Pedrosa is erratic.

Unless Dovizioso or someone else from the new guys improve dramatically (or the above mentioned 3 guys get an utterly dominant bike), the next few years championships will be decided between Rossi and Lorenzo, methinks.

It was a public secret but was confirmed on Sunday evening: Valentino Rossi will join the Ducati team from 2011. After seven years at Yamaha the Italian multiple world champion will join the 'Rossa' next season. Ducati and Rossi signed a two-year agreement.

“Firstly, Valentino is a great fan of motorcycles and so it has always been a pleasure for me to listen his opinions,” said Filippo Preziosi, Ducati Corse General Director. “Until the Valencia GP he will remain a competitor, one so great that he has always given a special value to our victories, but as soon as he rides the Ducati for the first time, we will work together on every single detail that will develop a bike capable of showing his huge talent.

“Working with Valentino is one of the most exciting things for every Engineer and it’s good to know we will have this great opportunity next season.”

Wow, next year is going to have a lot of changes. Seems like the top drivers are moving from one team to another with Stoner moving to Honda, Rossi to Ducati. Is Pedrosa staying or moving to Yamaha ? Ducati and Rossi will be a very tough combination to beat. Honda seems to have fallen back for some time now. Hope Stoner can bring them back. Stoner hasn't been on the same form since his WDC winning season.

Rossi to Ducati, Stoner to Honda, unless either of these factories make a dominant bike, Lorenzo will have a headstart not having to get used to a new environment.

I wonder who will remain at Honda and be Stoner's teammate? The unfullfilled potential incubent darling of the team or the youngster...?

The crash was pretty much unpreventable. There is only so much you can improve safety in that situation. With Formula 1 there is so much more you can do. Sad

Casey Stoner wins from Lorenzo in the opening round of Moto GP. Rossi, who's now with Ducati, finished at distant 7th. Honda is the bike!

Stoner was incredible!

I've been rating Pedrosa as the fastest of the grid but, if Stoner keeps performing like he did on Sunday, I'll have to change my order.

Hi!

I never told it here but I've been to Aragon GP this year, as Motorland is in my province... The sad thing about it is that I got the tickets for the race on saturday evening and had to move straight on from another city (where I was on its celebrations) to Motorland that night, and that implies no sleeping and no camera. Sad

Anyway, watching the GP was a very nice experience which I recommend to anyone. Besides, it's much cheaper than F1!. Moto 2 is spectacular, and that single race with Marquez winnning (that boy is amazing!) was particularly impressive. Concerning MotoGP, it was not the race, but watching the way of driving that two-wheeled demons that the pilots had (specially the great Stoner) was astonishing.

BTW, anyone following the championship?

Yeah, Stoner made it beautifully this year... just like when he had that wonderful Ducati bike, when he took the championship a couple of years ago.
Nevertheless, I can't be more than happy, that he's driving for my favorite team, Repsol Honda Very Happy

MCL2k10, Repsol-Honda has now an incredible drivers team with Stoner, Pedrosa and Dovizioso. I think that Pedrosa will be back to the usual form and he can be fast, although I'm not sure if he will be able to match Stoner in both terms of speed and consistency. Time will tell.

Lorenzo is doing great (last year was amazing), but the bike is not as fast as it should be I guess. And, as SQKOKL says, let's hope for a Ducati recovery so we will see Rossi as a contender again, that could only be good for the spectacle.

Capirossi was 3rd in 2006 with the Ducati and next year Stoner was 2nd with the same bike. Right now Rossi is 4th exactly the same as Stoner the last two years... That means also Capi is better than Rossi? Also is Loris as good as Casey?.

Casey is a big driver, but to compare to Valen that way, is simply a nonsense...

no but Casey was stilling winning a bike last year that shouldn't have won GPs, Rossi bad mouthed him at the end of last year saying he wasn't trying hard enough, (re Casey complaining about the front end on the ducati) now he is eating his words, that's what I am referring too

OK, but Casey still have a long way to go to do in Honda what Rossi did. And Valentino probably will do much better soon than Stoner did ever with the Ducati. Again, I think Casey is a great driver, but Rossi is Rossi...
